So I wanted to buy a laptop from someone and it has 60GB of HD, 1GB Ram and that's all I know so far and it's being sold for $150.00
What would you expect from a 150.00 computer? Is there a website I could check too?

you may want a visual, like a photo, of what you're gonna buy. you might be getting one of them kiddie toy laptops instead ;)

i'd be real careful with that $150 laptop. the cheapest brand new laptops on Best Buy is $300+. even if that laptop you're getting has been pre-owned, $150 is way too cheap, there has to be a valid reason why its that inexpensive. is the owner rushing to sell it? if so why? are there any damages to it? can it still be repaired?

also even if the laptop looks to be ok, do know that its not as easy to upgrade and repair as a desktop pc would be, so even if you're buying it on the cheap, but it takes more to get it upgraded/ repaired, then you're not saving money anyway.

It's my friend's father's laptop. I've used it, it's slow but that's nothing a reformat won't fix. So pretty much, this is a really good deal? I'm picking it up sometime this week. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Well at least you've seen and used it before. Specs aren't THAT bad, nothing a linux distro wouldn't fix.

I'm using it now. I put in the processor from my broken laptop and doubled up the ram as well as gave it a reformat and it's freaking fast! I even got a nice case too!

What are the specs now?
