BvS vs Iron Man 2(Warning Spoilers? I Think?)

I really enjoyed Sam Rockwell as Justin hammer as well.

*cough* Put differently, all the things people point to as reasons why IM2 fails as a movie, are things IM3 does better. More coherent plot, better pacing, a main villain who actually matters to the story, etc.

It's bvs purly because it has Batman in it. Sorry I'm biased. I know. Its a disease.

Haha, I LOVED his Hammer. Whenever people say that Iron Man 2 has a "weak" villain I'm always like, "What? Sam put so much into that role!"

And then I realize they mean Whiplash.

Despite the fact that Whiplash is the first and last fight, I always kind of consider Hammer to be the big bad in that movie. I mean, in fairness, if it weren't for him Whiplash would have sat around in jail after his initial attack. Hammer gets him out and gets him the supplies to make the later finale happen. Plus Hammer has a more solid motivation, and I love his interesting relationship with Tony. And, yeah, Sam was just great in the part.

And don't forget those dance moves.

What was the point?

The point was that when Bruce realizes Superman has a mother he's trying to save, he is forced to recognize not just the strange alien from another world but the man who isn't so different from us humans after all.

Also, add me to those who loved Rockwell as Hammer. He and Rourke both had excellent roles to work with but they (Rourke especially) got the short end of the stick.

I think most people get that. But still think it's bad storytelling.

Having Batman not killing everyone and at the moment of standing over Superman, remembers that...would have been better.

A lot of different storylines would have been better.

Iron Man 2, easily. The story is more focused, has a better sense of humor, and Hammer and Whiplash are infinitely better than Loony-Lex. And if we're comparing both franchises, I'd say...

IM > IM3 > IM2 > MoS > BvS

Actually now that I think about it. MoS is pretty similar to Iron Man 1.

-Hero is left stranded after a series of unfortunate events takes place.(MoS Oil Rig Scene and Iron Man Escape From Terrorists Scene)
-Hero returns home and heroics stirs public.
-Both Even Have A Small Confrontation With The Army In Which They Attempt To Avoid Conflict and A Friend(Lois and Rhodey), helps them in the situation
-Villain rises out of hate for hero and challenges him
-Hero must fight villain with similar powers
-Hero ends up unable to defeat villain conventionally and must kill them.

Come to think of it Ant-Man has a similar plot. Come to think of it alot of movies have that plot. Come to think of it thats basically the plot of BvS. Making this post completely pointless as that means this is the basic template for 50% of superhero films.

Therefore carry on.

If I go by franchise comparison....

MoS > IM3 > IM > IM2 > BvS

If he goes by quality I'd reconfigure the order like this.

IM > IM3 > MoS > IM2 > BvS

By joy level (which is what I assumed he meant) I'd go with the order I stated in the post above.

IM2 is a safe but boring film. I was pleasantly surprised by the first one and enjoyed the third a lot. But Rourke and Rockwell are boring and miscast. ScarJo was the highlight of IM2, while everyone else phoned it in.

BvS is a different beast. I love at the passionate reactions it's received from both sides. As someone who enjoyed it, I get some of the complaints hurled at it but there are far worse comic book films out there.

BvS for me.

Swap place of IM2 with MOS and that my ranking.
