"[In] the case of Heath's performance in that, it's remarkable," he allowed. "That, to me, is like finding a gem in the market. It's not something I would expect."

what exactly does he mean with that ?

when he would see something incredible in a role ( like heath in the joker) he would be up to it, but its just highly unlikely ?

Yeah, I know he apparently turned down Lincoln at first but changed his mind. DDL is the cool kid in high school. All the girls want him because he doesn't want them.
Of course he changed his mind, after the Nine failure, he needed a grandiose Oscar-bait to restore his reputation :word:

I think he just means you dont expect a performance like Ledger's in something inferior like blockbusters.

I love the fact that Nolan is doing another sci-fi original, and it's coming next year!

I'd love to see Cranston work with Nolan, and same goes for RDJ and Fassbender. And Guy Pearce would be great!

As for the leading ladies I think Noomi Rapace or Jessica Chastain would be interesting choices to work with him. Anne Hathaway returning or maybe Rachel Weisz. Even Natalie Portman (in Black Swan mode, not Padmé :oldrazz: )

I love how everyone's making casting suggestions when we know absolutely nothing about the characters :woot:

As for DP,I'd LOVE it if it were Lubezki or Deakins, but Eduardo Serra or Robert Elwit would make me happy too.I think Elwit is possible since he has worked with Imax before.

Blockbusters and action movies are rarely actors movies. Performances on Ledger's level are extremely rare. Thats what I think he is referring to.

Matthew McConaughey! :wow: I dig it.

Matthew McConaughey Courted By Christopher Nolan For Lead In ‘Interstellar?’

Here’s an intriguing casting possibility to chew on going into the holiday weekend. I’m told Christopher Nolan has offered the male lead of his next film, Interstellar, to Matthew McConaughey. The character’s name is Cooper and while there is no deal yet, who says no to Nolan? The project is a co-production between Paramount and Warner Bros. Interstellar was originally set up in 2006 by Steven Spielberg, when Paramount owned DreamWorks, and after Spielberg became intrigued by Caltech physicist and relativity expert Kip S. Thorne and his scientific theory that wormholes exist and can be used for time travel. It was Spielberg who who set Jonah Nolan to write the script, which made it easy for Christopher Nolan to come aboard after Spielberg left the project. After all, the Nolan siblings have a collaborative track record, with Jonah hatching the short story that became Christopher’s first hit Memento, and following that with two Batfilms and The Prestige. Christopher Nolan signed on in January to write a script that merged an original idea of his with the script that Jonah wrote. The ambition is a film that will depict a heroic interstellar voyage to the farthest borders of our scientific understanding. Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas are producing with Lynda Obst. Jordan Goldberg is joining as exec producer alongside Thorne, who’ll remain on as technical consultant.

Getting details on a Nolan project is more difficult than getting the line on the Pope selection process, so there’s no comment here. If McConaughey indeed signs on, what an intriguing turn for his career. After starting off in Dazed and Confused and A Time To Kill, this good old boy wanted to do dramas and action, but seemed mainly to be successful as half of a love pairing in a romantic comedy. Much has changed with recent diverse films like Lincoln Lawyer, Bernie, Killer Joe and especially Magic Mike, the latter of which won him an Independent Spirit Award and has Hollywood seeing him in a different light. He has followed with The Wolf Of Wall Street and Dallas Buyer’s Club, but starring in Nolan’s big sci-fi film would be seismic. I just hope that it makes it possible for McConaughey to finally make The Grackle, one of the funnier scripts I’ve read. McConaughey is repped by CAA.

^You're saying he's being considered or that he's who you want?

Oh ****...out of left field, but I could see him in something like this. He really is a decent actor if you've seen his indie **** but he's been in so many bland romcoms you don't notice.

Damn, you beat me to the punch. Not too sure what to think about this... Was hoping for Bale/Cavill.

A few years back, I think a lot would be facepalming at this but Matthew has proven his skills lately. Very nice! :)

Magic Mike: In Space

It's gonna happen. :o

McConaughey recently has been knocking it out the park (Killer Joe, The Paperboy, Bernie, Mud, Magic Mike) awesome news.

McConaughey's always been a solid actor. He just phoned it in for years and settled for high-paying crap.

I like the left field-ness of it, but I can't say McConaghey himself makes me excited. Then again I don't think I've seen what is considered his best work.

There are some actors we don't even consider for stuff like this anymore because our reference pool has gotten so small. But if he is up for it, it's definitely an interesting choice.

Killer Joe, it's easily the best movie he's done recently (though I haven't seen Mud yet). Check it out.

We know Nolan likes making his lead stars go shirtless for a few scenes so that means we'll see Matthew take off his shirt (and that makes me happy). :awesome: :funny:

He was great in Contact and Amistad. People forget about those performances I feel.

Early on he showed promise but like Jamie said he took on some meh gigs for a while.

Yeah, that one and Lincoln Lawyer are movies I want to see that I've heard him gotten praise for.
