Not surprising but CoD6 has been officially announced at Activision Blizzard's event and will be developed by Inifinity Ward. Bad news though is that it wont hit for another 2 years in 2010

During the recent Activision Blizzard analyst day, Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith commented that Call of Duty 6 will in fact be coming out in 2010. While previous statements by Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick indicated a 2009 release, his counterpart said that "for calendar year 2010, Infinity Ward is already at work on the next installment in the franchise."

As a compensation for this delay of the next full release, Call of Duty: World at War due out this Fall will have more DLC, including a way to accelerate in game character experience with what is called "Day 1 Advantage."

"The average Call of Duty player has spent five full 24-hour days playing online," said Griffith. "And over time, we'll find ways to increase the monetization of this opportunity."

So is this one going to be back in WW 2...or is it going to be a sequel to Modern Warfare?? To me, the WW2 situation has been run into the ground, so might as well keep it in todays events.

I hope they move the gameplay forward along with the graphics, the single player was very dissapionting.
I loved the single player! It was the best campaign Ive played in a FPS and what got me into the game. If it wasnt for the SP, I would probably not have been so hooked on the multiplayer aspect. Besides the MP stuff was the meat of it anyway. They could go the route of Warhawk and just create an online only portion and Id be perfectly fine

As for the setting, it needs to be modern times. Never been a fan of FPS games in the past.

This settles things that hte next game will be COD6. People were so convinved that World at War was not the 5th main entry bc it didnt have a 5 in the title

This isn't directed specifically at you, BizarroAids, just FYI.

I've said it before and I'll probably say it again, but I think it's so ****ing ridiculous that people will ***** about WWII shooters.

There are so damn many more science fiction or "modern" shooters than there are any other, and yet... no one seems to whine about them.

Why is that?

Is it just "cool" to complain about how many WWII shooters there are? (When in reality, comparatively, there aren't even that many.)

:cmad:

This next one is suppose to be futuristic.

Awesome news. Too bad it's not coming out for about 2 years but I'd rather wait a couple years and get a good game then wait a year and get a crappy game.

I think the main thing is because it feels like every WWII shooter recycles the same levels/themes. With the "modern" or sci fi shooters you've got more freedom to create new levels.

Hopefully for six they'll add a cover system like in Rainbow Six, that's probably my only complaint about 4.
