January 8, 2010 - Call of Duty 7, being developed by Treyarch, will be arriving in November according to a “senior UK trade source” who spoke with CVG about the game. The game will be set in late 1960s Vietnam, according to the source.

The game has been under development since Call of Duty: World at War was finished in 2008 by Treyarch. Over the past few years, the teams at Treyarch and Infinity Ward have traded work on Call of Duty titles, beginning with Call of Duty 3, which was developed by Treyarch. Since then, Infinity Ward has developed Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2 while Treyarch has developed Call of Duty: World at War.

The new game will represent another, vastly different direction for the Call of Duty series, a particularly risky venture considering the history Vietnam shooters have had, with titles such as Battlefield: Vietnam, Men of Valor, and the Shellshock series all faring poorly in terms of sale numbers. Of course, with the Call of Duty series, it seems that nothing can go wrong.

This news comes as rumors are circulating that Infinity Ward may be passing on the creation of Modern Warfare 3 to another developer in order to focus on creating a Call of Duty MMO. Though currently there has been no confirmation of this news, it seems as though Infinity Ward has been looking to hire MMO developers.

In addition, the source told CVG that the game will be released in November saying, “It’s going to be November again – just as with World At War and Modern Warfare 2. Activision believes they can own Christmas 2010 just as it has in the last two years.”

I'm all ready on board for this. Vietnam will be sick.

I'll rent it when it hits the Red Box if I don't have any games to play.

Unlike most men I don't get a hard on for Call of Duty. The series is just, boring.

Well they can't go back to war AGAIN and Infinity Ward already stole the only other interesting idea, where else?

They actually are acknowledging there are other wars aside from WW2....color me shocked.

If Treyarch was smart they would leapfrog Infinity Ward and make Call of Duty: Future Warfare.

Modern Warfare isn't interesting. MW2's story is especially awful. The only reason it's caught on so well is the MP.

As long as it plays nothing like the previous Call of Duty's, ill check it out. Im so dreadfully bored of the CoD franchise....Thanks Activision.

Modern Warfare for me is the best FPS game I've played. Still have to play the second one.

As for Call of Duty 7...I never played any game based on Vietnam. I hope for the best, of course.

I liked WAW, so I'm looking forward to this. I'm soooo glad that Treyarch is leaving WW2 behind & not copying IW by doing a modern game.

I have a feeling modern warfare games will get old fast, especially with MOH & BF doing them too.

Cool, now they can be even more dickish and have "Charlie Zombies".

This is the most crack induced thing you have ever said.

Most of the guns feel the same (unless they have a grenade launcher attached) and aiming is too damn easy with the laser sight. If CoD4 was a WWII shooter and it had the same MP, no one would be sick of WWII shooters.

And the stories in the games aren't that great. MW2's is especially downright awful.

It really isn't. Most of the guns feel the same (unless they have a grenade launcher attached) and aiming is too damn easy with the laser sight. If CoD4 was a WWII shooter and it had the same MP, no one would be sick of WWII shooters.

Ridiculous. You're talking about gameplay here. We were talking about setting and story.

Kinda like World at War? That used the same engine as COD4 and was essentially that game in a WW2 setting. I didnt buy it bc I hate WWII shooters and am sick of them

My complaints about the gameplay are due to the setting. The stories are pretty weak and forgettable.

You are underestimating why people play bc the story has always been on the bottom of the totem pole. People play for the multiplayer and setting. The game could have the worst story of the year, it would still be considered a great title that people will buy and play bc of the awesome multiplayer. I lovd the single player campaign of CoD4, but the story was completrely forgettable. For me, the atmosphere and gameplay was what impressed me and drew me to it

I wonder what stupid gimmicky idea Treyarch will come up with this time?

Play as Captain America.
:awesome:

CoD4's campaign and story were alright. As was the case for WAW, 2, and 2. But in MW2, they clearly didn't care about it at all. The campaign is a 4 hour tutorial and saying the story is complete trash is being forgiving. I haven't played much of the MP since I got a PS3 shortly after and that has been taking up most of my time.

i got more playtime out of nazi zombies than i have with either modern warfare game, so i hope they have some stupid gimmicky thing like that
