I'm all ready on board for this. Vietnam will be sick.
January 8, 2010 - Call of Duty 7, being developed by Treyarch, will be arriving in November according to a senior UK trade source who spoke with CVG about the game. The game will be set in late 1960s Vietnam, according to the source.
The game has been under development since Call of Duty: World at War was finished in 2008 by Treyarch. Over the past few years, the teams at Treyarch and Infinity Ward have traded work on Call of Duty titles, beginning with Call of Duty 3, which was developed by Treyarch. Since then, Infinity Ward has developed Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2 while Treyarch has developed Call of Duty: World at War.
The new game will represent another, vastly different direction for the Call of Duty series, a particularly risky venture considering the history Vietnam shooters have had, with titles such as Battlefield: Vietnam, Men of Valor, and the Shellshock series all faring poorly in terms of sale numbers. Of course, with the Call of Duty series, it seems that nothing can go wrong.
This news comes as rumors are circulating that Infinity Ward may be passing on the creation of Modern Warfare 3 to another developer in order to focus on creating a Call of Duty MMO. Though currently there has been no confirmation of this news, it seems as though Infinity Ward has been looking to hire MMO developers.
In addition, the source told CVG that the game will be released in November saying, Its going to be November again just as with World At War and Modern Warfare 2. Activision believes they can own Christmas 2010 just as it has in the last two years.
