Spartacus and Camelot: Bloody good TV.
Eva Green is definitely the life of this show. She looks so delicious and evil at the same time. The only other thing i've seen her in is Casino Royale.
Anyway, I watch 1.4 this morning and....ugh. I liked the first episode and 1.2 was pretty good too. But this show is so clearly going downhill.
I realize that unless we discover how evil her powers are, Morgan should be the protagonist of this show. Eva Green brings light and energy to an otherwise dull and plodding show. She actually is putting some equality in her castle and has the personality of a true monarch. Arthur is just Merlin's tool. At first I was okay with starting with a weak, boyish Arthur and seeing him grow. But he for the most part all he does is lust after his champion's fiance and now wife (who he performed the wedding of!). He just comes off as a *****e and given we know where this go when Lancelot shows up, it makes Guinevere look like a weak, weak woman.

And then this week it was still mostly about that half-assed love triangle that makes its lead character (Arthur) detestable and revealing Merlin to be a *****e as well. He "accidentally" kills not just the swordmaker (who most likely would not have killed his petulant boy-king) but his daughter, Excalibur, as well?
Merlin is as big a tool as Arthur in this. When Gwain has a knife at Arthur's throat and instead of handling it himself, we saw Arthur being saved....I couldn't help but wonder why they were dying for this brat.
I'm not sure I'm going to keep watching this. The episode Morgan is killed off is the episode I will be officially done, if I haven't stopped by then.

What I Liked:
-Eva Green as Morgan. Every moment she's on the screen, the show has life and energy to it. Every moment she isn't on the screen (about half the episode, if not more) it just kind of plods and has no kick to the narrative. Unless we find out her evil magic comes from a really dark place, quite frankly I see no reason why anybody would root for Arthur over her.
What Didn't Work:
-All the scenes without Morgan. Most especially the love triangle between Arthur, Guinevere and that other guy. We all know how it is going to end and it is far too early to put that triangle in here. We know that she marries Arthur and then begins a slow, but ultimately torrid and passionate affair with Lancelot. Her being married before Arthur and cheating on her husband just feels repetitive even though we haven't met Lancelot before. Plus, when he shows up and she starts cheating on her second husband, she is unfortunately going to come off as a *****.

You haven't watch The Dreamers?! You poor bastard.
Every scene with Arthur in it is getting quite painful to watch; i'm glad this ep dedicated a lot of screen time to Eva Green.

Yeah, it's a travesty not to watch The Dreamers if you think Eva Green is hot.
I have a question about episode 4: Are we supposed to understand that scene where Morgan comes back to life? There was a part where she looked in the mirror and said something along the lines of "No, not you. Anyone but you." I didn't understand who it was she was seeing/what was going on.![]()
I've seen a LOT of hate regarding this show when I googled it, but I just watched all 4 episodes today (I think there are only 4 so far?). I enjoyed it and don't really understand the intense dislike. It's a new take on the story, which I like. Arthur is incredibly unlikeable, which is sort of intriguing. It makes him very human and I'm assuming that these are all things which help turn him into a great leader...we all learn from mistakes. His whole desire to take Guinevere from her husband makes me not feel bad for him knowing what's coming after they in turn marry...karma's a *****
