Çameron had written the script back in 1997 and at the time was also challegenging the guys at digital domain to come up with that kind of CG realism. THe answer he got was that it would take 10 years before the CG animation could reach that kind of photorealism.

While it true that he put his script on the desk AND that current shooting script of avatar is based on that early script , he has been busy developing the tech for the past 10 years. THe 3-d camera , the fusion camera.

However you are right in saying that the actual work has begun somehwere around 2004-2005. At this stage , we can say that Cameorn has everything as his disposal to realise his vision. The question if Cameron is going to design new stuff for the sequels. Who knows he might able to design a 3-d camera that could actually match the resolution reached by IMAX camera and/or create technology which would result in CG images achieving that kind of resolution

I'd prefer it if Cameron takes on Battle Angel next. I want to see him mix it up.

Also, as of a couple of years ago, according to Cameron, any potential sequels for either Avatar or Battle Angel will be done back-to-back (like The Matrix or Pirates sequels).

a lot of times pixar animators look in the mirror to see how the face moves . or they film eachotehr for body movements.

its true though... im sure most would rather see battle angel than this.. and especially a sequel to this.

The original scriptment was written in 1995, even before he started working on Titanic, but there was no way the movie could be made back then with the technology they had, so Cameron put the script away.

The 3-D camera's themselves weren't made specifically for Avatar but for any potential future project Cameron would have made. Like his documentaries or Battle Angel. Originally, Cameron was going to make Battle Angel first and then Avatar but he switched the two projects and decided to do Avatar first.

Yeah, the actual work on this film began in mid-2005. As per Cameron's own words, by the time this film is complete, it will be 4.5 years in the making.
 
i would rather see battle angel after avatar. something different. plus i like the idea .
 
can someone please explain to me why is the trailer realesed on thursday? why not on monday? i never saw this.
 
on the whole gollum thing, that image of gollum that was posted was the gollum used in the fellowship of the ring. that was the look, and without andy serkis i dont think gollum wouldve been as memorable. in the dvds this guy seems to have the driving force for gollum he did everything he could to make this character and for that i think he deserved a nomnination. and hell serkis is great, he did kongs facial stuff and movements as well, and he played one of my favorite characters lumpy thr cook. what a great death scene too
