Cameron's "Avatar"

And I'm not sure when Cameron wrote the script for Terminator, but originally he wanted Arnie to have the Kyle Reese role ( :lmao: ) and OJ Simpson to have the Terminator role. :o Arnie was (rightly) concerned about his accent, which is why he lobbied for the Terminator role instead. Good call there, Arnie. :word:

Arnold wanted to play the hero, it was Cameron who thought he would have been perfect to play the Terminator instead, after meeting with him.

Originally, Lance Henriksen was going to play the Terminator. The studio asked Cameron to meet with Arnold over playing Reese. Cameron was reluctant but agreed to meet with him and afterwards, they hit it off.

After listening to Arnold, Cameron decided he would be perfect for the Terminator role instead and sold Arnold on the idea as well.

How did Arnold Schwarzenegger become involved?

Initially, I didn't really want him. Orion had proposed him to play the other guy, because he was the hero. I'll never forget walking out of my apartment and telling my roommate, "I've got to go have lunch with Conan and pick a fight with him." That was my agenda, because I didn't want him to do the movie. So I had to get in an argument and come back and say he was an *******. But that's not what happened. I had lunch with Arnold and he was so charming and so into the script and so amusing and entertaining that I totally forgot my agenda. I had a great time, even though he made me smoke a cigar that made me sick for six hours. Funny thing was, he even had to pay for lunch, because I was there with this loser from Hemdale who didn't have any money. And I didn't have any money.

How did you see him as the Terminator?

Over lunch I started thinking, This guy has got the most amazing face. I almost wanted to say, "Arnold, just stop talking for a second and be real still," but I was petrified. I thought, This guy would make a great Terminator. But he doesn't want to play the Terminator. I went back to John Daly and said, "Forget it, it's not going to work. But, boy, he'd make a hell of a Terminator." Anyway, the upshot is that the deal was closed that afternoon and we were making the movie after a two-year hold.

OJ didn't get the part because the producers didn't think he could play a convincing killer.

shouldn't we also get another new trailer before the movie comes out? isn't it usually a teaser and 2 trailers attached to big films

well even in grainy compressed leaked version far far better than the teaser both in content and from what i could see the way things looked, especially the part where hes rolling off the transport ship in his wheel chair.

also question: i guesse transfering of the mind can go back and forth, that its not permanent?

If it was permanent, Worthington would probably be the only one willing to do it.

From what I understand, they can switch back and forth.

When Jake's mind is in his human body then his Avatar goes into a sleep like state and when Jake's mind is in his Avatar then his human body goes into a sleep like state.

Saw the trailer in theater. Looking good, although I wasn't blown away. I'm definitely going to see this in IMAX 3-D for the full effect. I know it will be a visual feast...I just hope the story is good too.

The whole movie is 3D, right?

There are going to be several points over the course of the film where Jake looks directly at the audience and says "put your 3D glasses on NOW."

I was pretty underwhelmed by the trailer. I couldn't see the graphics very well so all I was left with was the story, which seems rather run-of-the-mill. The only part that got my blood pumping was the end with the music. That battle is going to be really exciting. :yay:

I'll still reserve final judgement for when I see a high-quality trailer of course.

Looked good from the bootleg, but im still gonna wait for the HD version. :)
