Since the first film that fans have been waiting for harry potter to have an oscar, yet it didn't win one yet, so can this be the day Harry gets his oscar?
They waited for the final Lord of the rings film to give it an oscar so perhaps?

Is it epic enough?

It won't win a major Oscar. It could be the best movie this year hands down and it wouldn't win an Oscar for Best Film. Lets face it...Radcliffe isn't going to win best actor.

The only things I can see Potter winning at the Oscars are visual fx, supporting actor (Rickman), score, and editing. However, Transformers will win best fx and I doubt they even nominate poor Rickman.

Can somebody add multiple choices to the poll?
I wanted to make it but i accidentally pressed the button and forgot to do it.

harry potter is a fictional character i don't think he can win anything :oldrazz:

oh right the deathly hallows pt 2 movie...misleading thread title :awesome:

For Best Picture? I doubt it, but for any other like the technical awards and such. It's possible I guess.

We should start a Fanboy Awards.

that would actually be really cool...i mean how long did it take for video games to even start getting their own awards ceremonies? I think a fanboy awards event would get a lot of attention. like in an MTV movie awards kind of way.

The Oscar equivalent for video games is the AIAS, and that was founded 1996.

Cool story, I know.

Deathly Hallows: Part 2 could have received a nomination for Best Picture, but the Academy changed the rules this week so that they only nominate the 5-10 films they think deserve it.

They'll nominate the usuals (dramas etc.) but won't nominate the bigger films unless they really stand out.

Visual Effects? Sure. Anything else? It probably had a shot at Original Score when Williams was doing now...no.

I think a major Oscar win is unlikely.

Although I'm still annoyed that Radcliffe didn't get a Tony nomination this year... :argh:

I am surprised Harry Potter hasn't won a Visual Fx Oscar yet. The visual effects have been consistantly good and vastly superior to alot of other blockbusters in recent years.

Look at the duel between Dumbledore and Voldermort here in Order Of The Phoenix

It's going up against Transformers so it will lose the vfx to them.

Didn't he get mixed reviews from the theatre critics?

perhaps thats why he got snubbed. I got respect for him doing something different.

I do think they are ridiculous when they overlooked things like The Dark Knight which is why they do ten nominations and that led to Inception getting this year. I just don't think any HP film other than the one Cuaron directed (Prisoner of Azkaban?) was of that quality to be noticed in such a way.

In Transformers alot of people couldn't even tell one robot from another in the fight scenes so unless they fix that I don't think they should get an visual fx oscar

Plus part 2 is half a film and critics won't like half a movie. Some of the complaints about the first half was that it wasn't a complete film and I was like WTF NO ****!?

Those people aren't too bright then. It's not hard especially since they are all different colors.

Visual Effects. its not original by any means so thats out of the question.

The Locks are:
Visual Effects
Art Direction

Very possible:
Cinematography
Makeup
Score
Best Picture

Almost impossible:
Director
Adapted Screenplay
Acting category

Nah, it was more of an anti-movie star nomination year for the Tonys. He got nominated for every major theater award except this one.

Adapted Screenplay would be nice, but these uptight old ****s in the Academy probably wouldn't have it. :o

Half Blood Prince got robbed on cinematography. So I could see cinematography, best picture since the increase of nominations and it'll definitely get nominated for visual effects but its about time Transformers wins for that. The robots look ridiculously real and that franchise has yet to win the oscar for visual effects.

I don't care what happens in the other categories, but I will be extremely pissed if Part 2 doesn't win Art Direction. Stuart Craig should have won for this series a long time ago.
