Trying to list all the storylines that inspired the movies, wondering if anyone could help me out.

These are the only ones I know:

Iron Man 3 - Extremis by Warren Ellis and Adi Granov
Capt America 2 - The Winter Soldier by Ed Brubaker

Wondering if anyone has any others.... Iron Man 1, Capt. America First Avenger, Avengers 1 - all these were first issue origin stories ?? Is that correct ?

Iron Man was pretty much an update from his first issue where he got kidnapped by Communists but the basics were the same up until he got home. Stane was actually a rival industrialist not basically his uncle. SHIELD did form around the same time as the comics we know and love did start though.

Winter Soldier was a two fold thing with the Bucky being the Winter Soldier being the first part and later on a few years after that it was revealed SHIELD was born from HYDRA.

The Thor movies were kind of a mishmash of a bunch of different storylines. The Destroyer armor, Loki trying to kill him (repeatedly) and everything else happened a lot over the years. Although Thor being banished due to arrogance and to learn humility was pretty much the reason for the Thor comics in the beginning especially with the call back to the Donald Blake identity from the first movie since he was a doctor who only found out he was Thor during a trip to Norway when he got attacked by (and this is a real thing from Marvel) the Stone Men from Saturn. The showed that in the Planet Hulk movie except it was with Beta Ray Bill instead.

Avengers was sort of based on two versions of Avengers showing up in it. The first being the Avengers coming together to battle Loki in Avengers #1 even though it didn't have Ant-Man or the Wasp and had Captain America even though he didn't show up until issue #4. The other Avengers were the Ultimate Avengers who were all jerks. They had to deal with the Chitauri being shape shifting aliens doing a slow conversion/invasion of earth for decades.

Iron Man 2 was part of a few storylines where Stark was dying and had to face his own mortality. We also got Hammer who was a big jackass in the MU creating a lot of different super villains for industrial sabotage and just to piss off Tony. Whiplash is more of a combined (I think) Titanium Man and Whiplash due to the Russian genius part added.

Captain America TFA is basically just WWII Cap kicking ass, so no storylines needed. :p

Incredible Hulk is another mash of a few stories. He meets up with Betty after being on the run, Blonsky turning into the Abomination and Ross basically committing mutiny and attacking Hulk with armies and secret forces is basically every couple books.

^^ Hey thanks for the information! Just trying to figure out which comic books to read, I want to read things that are the basis of the movies.

Iron Man 2 is supposedly Demon in a Bottle with a hint of Armor Wars. Doesn't the original Iron Man movie also borrow from Extremis?

This is a difficult question to answer because the movies have stories that, for the most part, are original or loosely inspired. The Winter Soldier is another good example of that.

But Avengers 1 is roughly the same as Avengers Vol. 1 Issue 1, so that's another one.

I collect trades usually, so this is how I remember it
Iron Man: Extremis; Iron Man's Original origin (i.e. collections of the first few issues); Iron Monger;

Incredible Hulk: Not completely sure. I know they used the old show, and there was some points in the comics with Mr. Blue; probably Abomination's origin (Tales to Astonish #90);

Iron Man 2: Armor Wars; Demon in a Bottle;

Avengers: Avengers #1 (and several of the following issues); Ultimates #1-13;

Iron Man 3: Extremis; The Five Nightmares; The Mandarin's Origin (Tales of Suspense #50, I think. It may be a few issues later); The Invincible Iron Man Annual #1

Thor the Dark World: Some of Simonson's run (not done well, but whatever); some of the early stuff (like early Journey into Mystery, Thor kept wanting to visit Jane and it made Odin mad);

Winter Soldier: Winter Soldier; Nick Fury vs. SHIELD; Secret Warriors vol. 1

Guardians of the Galaxy: all of DnA's run

Age of Ultron: Avengers #16 (Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Hawkeye join); Avengers #55 (Ultron's first appearance); Avengers #57 (Vision's first appearance); Ultimates 2 #1, #4, #7 (purely because of Hawkeye's family); arguably aspects of Avengers: Disassembled and House of M.

Daredevil: The Man without Fear; Daredevil: Yellow;

Agents of SHIELD: arguably elements from Secret Warriors, especially in the latter half of Season 1

Wasn't sure specifically about Thor and the First Avengers, though you could probably find the issues when they talk about Thor being banished, anything with Cap in WWII or the Red Skull with the Cosmic Cube
