I understand it's the energy source they're looking for, but I heard it
can turn random electronics/cars into Transformers.

Can someone explain to my how this works? Is this how Frenzy came to be in the movie? Examples from the script? Do
the new Transformers have personalities, and if so, where do they come from?

Thank you.

if you are familiar with Vector Sigma from the original G1 cartoon, then you'll get the general idea behind it.

It's not an energy source. It's more like a baby machine or box of souls. It actually turns inanimate machines into sentient, intelligent life.

It's the equivalent of the "Creation Matrix" in the original comic books or "Allspark" and "Vector Sigma" in latter stories. Although the filmmakers wanted to call it "The Energon Cube"- and indeed it was called The Energon Cube in the leaked script- they suppossedly changed the name to AllSpark once fans told them they had no idea what they were talking about. Energon Cubes are sources of energy... food... (not intelligent life).

Thank god for vocal fans.

Alright, cool. I heard that
an XBOX 360 and several furbies are brought to life. So are these Transformers that can walk around now? Or do the Furbies just have better AI and the 360 can put messages on the screen?

^ I didn't read any of that in the leaked script... but I DID read that they test the power of the AllSpark on a freaken Ipod!!!

So this is probably how "new" transformers will be introduced in the sequel? As machines-turned-into-robots by this "allspark" instead of a second wave of alien robots come to earth?

That would be a terrible idea especially since, according to the script, there are Autobots hiding throughout the galaxy, as Cybertron is now under Decepticon control.

Anyway
The Allspark gets destroyed at the end of the movie

As I haven't read the script, I didn't know that. Neither was I advocating that idea... it just seemed like something movie producers would come up with to justify the appearance of new transformers in the sequel.

But if they're coming from Cybertron and the far reaches of space, that's cool!

I dont know about later comics, but creating new Transformers was never a really "big deal" in the original story. Why would you want to create new robots when you don't have the energy to feed them??? They had enough trouble trying to find suitable energy resources for themselves.

Sure, the Deceps wanted to use the Creation Matrix to create guys like the Constructicons. But once communication and transport to Cybertron were established, creating "new" Transformers ceased to be hugely important. It was all about suitable energy sources (Earth in this case). This movie, however, is more like neo-conservative, Christian-Right version of the original story.... which is still- designs aside- my main problem with this movie.

oMG THIS SOUNDS SO AMAZING.!

Those are some great points. Never really thought about it like that before.

Does this mean CFlash is admitting Bay films have some kind of "depth" even if it is bizarre?

I don't think anyone in history has ever associated a Michael Bay movie with "depth." But, yeah, there are undertones. Very Un-Transformers undertones, unfortunately. Hence, replacing the original energy resources story with the baby-making magical AllSpark.

And magic glasses.

I think I'm beginning to better understand your point of view.

I'm still determined to enjoy the movie though
