Cancelled shows of Tomorrow: The War on Chuck Lorre - Part 9

On one hand, Priyanka Chopra is a star, so I can see why ABC would want to keep a hold on her. On the other, a new showrunner ain't gonna get those numbers up. I've seen it too many times before. A still reasonably young show that had tons of promise but eventually tapered off gets itself a renewal, with the intention of retooling things or bringing in new blood to run the show. The Catch this very season, for example. Doesn't work out the way the network thinks it will.

I feel like the ensemble of attractive young people fighting evil is good enough to warrant safety as far as renewals these days. A lot of **** being cancelled is sitcoms or dramas.

Now that (mostly) all is said and done, and Timeless has been saved, I'm actually shocked that only one show I liked got canned.

Apparently it does well overseas and got itself a netflix deal.

Also reminds me of Sleepy Hollow. Great starting season, subsequent seasons were a let down. Quantico lost me in season 2. The whole CIA/AIC flashback twist stuff was too annoying to keep my interest.

If they are lucky they can do as Sleepy Hollow did and improve after a retooling but I doubt it will be anywhere as good as the first season was.

They already retooledbthe back half of this season by getting rid of the flashbacks.

A bit disappointed Scream Queens was cancelled but at the same time I don't know how they could keep that premise going from year to year. The second season was a stretch as it is.

I was surprised they got a 2nd season in the first place. I figured it would just be a one off mini series.

I never watched LMS or care that much about it but ABCs reasoning behind cancelling it was funny. "We decided not to have comedies on Fridays so we canned it"

Looks like I'll be watching a lot more Fox next season between Ghosted, The Orville and that new X-Men show.

That means that I'll probably watch it for 5 or 6 episodes and then get out. That's what I have done with all of her shows so far. I was out after six seasons of Grey's Anatomy, out after 1 or 2 episodes of Scandal when the show went from "Olivia Pope fixes political scandals" to "Olivia Pope becomes the President's Mistress and he becomes obsessed with her in every episode." I was in for 5 episodes on HTGAWM and like 2 for the Chase or whatever that one was with Peter Krause.

Yeah the last 8 eps were a straightforward political thriller.

Too bad that was before I quit watching it around episode 14... which is precisely 9 episodes before the end. :funny:

I thought if they did a second season at the time it would be like an anthology following a different group of people instead of taking the first season characters and throwing them into another horror house/hospital.
