Cap is now Hydra?

I thought it was more a commentary on Trump being a product of American values all along rather than looking at him as an exception. Hence the focus on Cap being Hydra all along. It's about exposing what is usually hidden.

Yeah I kinda just wanted to say the whole "make america great again" make captain america good again thing" And I'm just pissed off about the MCU Sharon Carter and needed to rant about some sort of Cap thing :) And even though I actually have no idea what's really going on with the american election, I feel like I agree with your views and opinions on Drumph.

Here's the thing Steve Rogers has always been a Man out of Time, he's joined the modern world but still holds unto the founding father virtues and principles that once made "America" great in history. Trumps slogan bares no meaning to that because his concept of greatness is more from a Capitalism and militaristic view in which the United States of America was first and the best in the world in the economy, natural resources, innovational achievements etc…

I thought this was one of the oldest marketing gimmicks in the comic game?

Either way there is no way Marvel is undoing 75 years of history of Cap by making him a Hydra agent.

Indeed. And that should go without saying. I honestly can't wrap my mind around fanboys acting like they've never read a comic before, lol.

Cough Fangirl Cough Cough

Also I do agree with your point, but I believe that Captain America would actually be like the best super villain because he knows all the tactics of the Avengers. I really hope that this series won't be about Cap becoming good again, but rather following cap as he develops as a villain.

Well that's not gunna happen, especially not after this reaction
even if this arc was going to be a long one (doubtful), they'll probably hand wave it away by the next arc, 6 issues at most

Aloha,

As a long time comic book collector, when I heard of the Cap as Hydra idea, the first thing that came to my mind was this. Steve Rogers volunteered for an experiment conducted by a German scientist who defected. What if the scientist never really did defect? What if along with the super soldier serum, he also gave Steve a dose of something else(hydra brainwashing? Nothing that Steve Rogers has done in his 75 years has been destroyed by this revelation. He must have been a sleeper agent and only now AFTER the return of his youth, has the programming showed itself. As a former stock holder in Marvel comics, I NEVER thought that my being a stock holder gave me any influence on any comic book. The level of entitlement of some fans is amazing. It also makes some look like complete tools because we should know after reading comics for years if not decades that Marvel is not going to destroy one of thier most succesful charcters.
Spidey rules

You know what they might just have like (forgive me for saying this ) a yolo moment...

Actually the idea that some sort of implanted programming only now activated is more interesting than what I think this story will ultimately turn out to be--which is either a Red Skull mind control fiasco, or an undercover op.

I don't believe it'll have anything to do with Cap's origin. The (apparent) fact that Steve's mom was invited to a Hydra tupperware party notwithstanding.

I just think it's all Red Skull's doing

Well whatever the marketing scheme is it's working because I'm enthralled...

Nope. Captain America: Steve Rogers #1 was only the 5th best-selling comic of last month, whereas the previous relaunch's first issue was #3 in its month and sold about 24,000 more copies.

Lots of people are talking about it, but it's not translating into sales.

oof. well i guess that's that. but who knows. #5 is still something. marvel might be satisfied with the sales numbers

Never thought I'd see a Punisher issue sell this well, and more than Cap.

Cap's new costume is so awful, it's painful to look at

and this "Mosaic" Character sounds dumb
not his powers, which could be pretty cool dramatically if applied the right way, but his origin story as a pro NBA player
is it suddenly 1996 again??

Well ya see, in the 90's, many marketing-driven comic book/sports team/other random company crossovers occurred, to often terrible results
plus I kinda thought everybody stopped watching basketball in the 90's, other than to occasionally b***h about Lebron James :o:oldrazz:

and Also, I thought we were past every new hero being a millionaire
