Claustrophobic Bale challenged by Batman suit

The Dark Knight, almost turned down the role over doubts about whether he could wear the Batman suit due to his claustrophobia.
According to Contactmusic.com, Bale explained that the first time he tried on the Batman suit he had trouble breathing, but knew he had to overcome his fears in order to keep the role.
"I was standing on the backlot where they were creating the suit, and I had a few minutes to myself... just thinking, 'This isn't going to work. I'm claustrophobic, I can't breathe, I'm getting a headache already, and this is all going to go very badly'," said Bale.
In order to help himself overcome his fears Bale learned to relax and "breathe" while he donned on the suit.
"I just said to myself, 'Breathe deeply for a few minutes. Try this out. Don't run around yelling and making an ass of yourself trying to pull the whole thing off'," he said in a recent interview with
Details magazine.
"I wasn't going to get it off by myself. It takes three people," Bale said. "I just had flashes of what an ******* I would feel like, saying, 'Well, I wasn't able to play that character, because I panicked every time I got in the suit'."
