Well, I loved every second of the Super Bowl ad. But did anyone else get a really weird impression the first time they watched Steve Rogers pre- and post-serum? I mean, that's Captain America's origin, and they did it perfectly. I love the retro vibe of the production design in the lab. Nevertheless, it was really odd to see a skinny guy go into this tube and instantly emerge as a muscle-bound He-Man, the pinnacle of human perfection.

I know, I know, that's a very basic part of Captain America's appeal. I just wonder if modern audiences might laugh at it initially.

If anyone thinks this thread is pointless, I can't really argue with you. But I was just curious as to whether other people had similar impressions, or what their thoughts are on the matter.

I think there is more to it. If it felt right in 30 seconds I'm sure within context that scene will look and flow nicely.

I have a feeling there will be a lot more screaming on Evans's part. I'd like to see it get to a point where it seems like it'll be another test failure, then the machine just STOPS and hisses open, revealing post-serum Rogers. I agree, what was seen in the superbowl spot was perfect for the time they had for it, but I'm sure, like everyone else is, there's more to be seen.

Like others have said, it'll probably be more like Wolverines adamantium procedure than the instant transformation in the commercial.

If people can accept that the Hulk not only gains much more mass than Cap in a short period of time, and turns back to his relatively puny self afterward, this shouldn't be too much of a stretch, no pun intended.

Or to a lesser extent, Spider-Man's transformation in the first movie.

To me it looks like the scene itself will be a little longer, Chester Phillips had a scared look on his face and we did see sparks fly from nearby machines, he may demand them to stop it because it looks like its hurting Rogers, but the scientist insist that they must follow through with it

When Peggy asks"how do you feel?"and he responds"taller".....seems like he's exhausted/was in pain for a bit/winded or something!

I guess there could be something to that!?

I think it's hard to judge from such a short clip, at least as far as the length of scene is concerned. I think the trailer will probably touch on this aspect a little more, so I'm sure the majority of the general audience will know what to expect.

The trailer obviously shortened the scene quite a bit. Played out the way it's intended in the movie, I think it can be pretty awesome. There's definitely some suspension of disbelief required, but previous superhero movies have shown that when done right, they're pretty cool.

lol remember how they poorly executed the transformation in the 90's film? He transformed it was successful, everyone gathered around Rogers, HAIL HITLER!!!!, dude starts shooting lol.

Yeah, I'm positive the scene will turn out great in the end. The ultra-short length of the Super Bowl commercial was clearly disorienting in some ways. But it had everything I needed to see to convince me this movie will be something special.

:woot: I have to check that out again. I don't remember the last time I watched that.

Needless to say, I think this film will do a better job of capturing the true tone of that scene/event.

man just watched that last night. just to remind myself how lucky we are to get a decent Cap movie. i loved how pre serum Rogers in that movie equaled a limp and a baggy sweater. lol. so bad, SO bad. lol

I loved what I saw of the scene. Chris Evans comes off as really cute and innocent
Then he's all RAAR! MANLY CAPTAIN AMERICA!!!

he looked really sickly in the scenes right before he got all buffed up. Surely there's some digital manipulation there... Or did Evans actually get that thin?

Exactly.

That scene despite being very poorly conceived, was suprisingly well edited and had the most decent choreography in the film. Not that that's saying much, but it's the best that that film ever got.

Hehe. Does anyone else think that when Peggy Carter was asking Steve how he feels she was not interested in his emotions but was actually asking "How does chest feel?"

Thank you for confirming that I should never watch this film in my entire life.
