What the actual ****, that Infinity War ranking is a joke, Should be at the top with Endgame. AOU still underated to this day, sigh. BP being number 1.... yeah, no lol Brave New World doesn't deserve this OTT witch hunt compared to some of the skid marks in that list.

The MCU really isn't insulated from RT disasters anymore. It felt like it was living a charmed life for so long.

The good news is despite the bad reviews, the movie had a strong opening weekend. It probably won't be worst case scenario of Quantumania or Eternals.

I think after 30+ films, critics are going to be more critical than they did in the past. Deadpool & Wolverine is one of the worst rated mcu films over in Metacritic. These films really need to feel (certified) fresh in order to gain critical acclaim. Just okay and average are simply not gonna cut it anymore especially when Marvel Studios set the bar high a couple of times.

Oh without doubt. Its partly why im worried for Thunderbolts and FF. Just ridiculous expectations with elements of witch hunting from all sides of the spectrum. The grifters are grifting already and in my honest opinion...im tired of it. I even let it influence my perception of BNW but having watched it again, it doesn't deserve this ridiculous battering, yes it has it flaws, yes its mediocre with specs of generic dust lathered on top but compared to some that ive seen. It really isn't that bad.

Ultimately Marvel needs to reright this ship onto the right path. As you mentioned, they cant keep putting out these cookie cutter films with minimal impact. Its not fair on the fans and for everyone involved. Public perception is at all time low, the distrust has crept in. They need to get the best of the best in all areas and calm the fk down in terms of Tv shows and other projects.

Now, i will say this...and one or two people have mentioned it here....this multiverse stuff is really diluting the themes of comicbook films and i don't like how Marvel are using it constantly as there trump card. I know there going to lean into it more, everythings pointing to that direction obviously but they really need to be clinical now. Im hoping FF can do for Marvel what Superman will do for DC.

The pressure on these two films to do well is tense as hell. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy

BP is a good movie for sure, but when simply viewed as a superhero story it's definitely not nearly ten points above everything else. Just goes to show how much critics' priorities are different from regular superhero movie fans. Especially the ones on metacritic, which is only 1/10th of the amount on Rotten Tomatoes.

Yeah man, im not saying the film doesn't deserve its merits, killmonger is one of the best villians in the MCU( some don't even view him as that) Critics opinions are really 50/50 to me, sometimes i feel there grifting or playing to a narrative and other times it feels like they watched a completely different film to not only superhero fans but the general audience lool

Marvel done such a great job building up the IW/Endgame saga that films like Captain Marvel got high ratings for the fact that viewers had to watch it to get breadcrumbs for Endgame. BP was released just before IW so maybe the same rules apply but that film was a cultural milestone so i get the high ratings in that regard.

I have a question for those if seen it (trying to go this weekend but missed opening weekend):

-Do they tell us what year it takes place in?

I ask, because of the whole Presidential election thing

I heard it was 2027, but an election wouldn't be until 2028. Plus, last we knew, Ritson was president at the end of *shudders* Secret Invasion. It ended with him declaring war on aliens. So was he impeached after this? Assassinated? And even if he and the Vice President were both assassinated, they wouldn't hold a special election or something, the speaker of the house would be president until 2028. IF the Speaker and the president pro tempore of the senate were also killed, then Ross as Secretary of State would've taken over, but he still wouldn't have been voted in to office as they indicated.

Or does this movie take place in April of 2029?

I just can't buy into Bucky becoming a congressman. He was literally a HYDRA hitman who murdered people, brainwashed or not, for decades.
You've seen our President right?
If Bucky ran as a Republican, his winter soldier days would earn him bonus points from the gun-loving incel types

1st scene is Election night November 2026, then it skips 5 months to April 2027 for the rest of the movie. I wouldn't think to hard about the real world logistics of it. Chalk it up to the Blip screwing up when US elections take place.

Ohh thank you
But that's gonna be pretty tough to ignore, something that major should've been addressed at some point.
Although I guess I can try to convince myself presidential elections in the 616 happen in the Winter Olympics years rather than the Summer Olympic years like in our world lol

Considering how sullen he looks in Thunderbolts I’m doubtful he wins.

I was reading he actually gets elected, was that inaccurate?

So... Bucky is your analog for Trump?

No clue. I just think him trying to move on only to have his past keep him from being able to fits with the other characters who are feeling lost and out of place in the film leading them to Val.

It looked like he was hunting the Thunderbolts and ends up joining/leading them. Maybe he gets tricked into hunting them by Valentina and realizes they aren't the bad guys.

To me it looks like they gave Hawkeye's role from the comics with the Thunderbolts to Bucky.

Hawkeye was the one who was convinced that after Thunderbolts defected from Zemo they were up to no good and decided to bring them down. Instead, he spent time observing and watching them for a while and saw that their intentions were genuine. He gave them an offer to become their new team leader and keep them on the straight path. This culminated in the amazing moment of Hawkeye tearing up his Avengers membership and handing it to Captain America. The student had finally become the master. It was one of Hawkeye's greatest moments. The juvenile, hot dog maverick Hawkeye was finally growing up and stepping out of Cap's shadow.

Hmmm maybe but can one lead or co-lead (Yelena seems to be the leader) an avengers like team and be in congress?

Bucky is the leader but Yelena is the main main lead.

Well, I mean:
iu

Lol but, no, just saying... open criminality is no longer a disqualifying trait for US politicians

And at least Bucky is remorseful
