Captain Marvel Captain Marvel costume thread

I was actually thinking of the version in A:EMH upon which that is based. A variant of that would be cool:

But there is also the Moonstone version of that costume which looks great and ought to have been Ms Marvel's costume herself. I can't find a picture of that at the moment. I think it looks pretty similar to the above.
Something like this would be ideal (with pants of course)

Yeah if you (1) throw on some pants (probably black rather than red, IMO), (2) use shorter, more practical boots, and (3) either ditch the mask, or turn it in to some type of practical aviation goggles, or breathing helmet for in space, then I'd be down with something similar to Karla Sofen's outfit (which is also similar to her original suit, and the EMH suit).

Whatever costume they go with, I think (hopefully?) everyone on here would expect them to give her pants. I mean, seriously, even the Hulk wears pants.

How does everyone think they should they handle her Binary form?

I'd rather there is some red on her legs to break up the black or blue (preferably blue). All black down below looks too much like leggings you might find someone wearing to a nightclub. I didn't like that on Wonder Woman's dark pants costume either.

Funny, I was actually thinking dark pants in order to break up all the red (assuming the top is mostly red).

At any rate, dark-to-black pants seemed to work just fine for Black Widow and Maria Hill. For that matter, it worked just fine for Star Trek TNG/DS9/YOY outfits as well.

you mean, between her boring, modern, standard-issue, every-female-has-to-wear-a-jumpsuit, or the outdated 80's style mono-kini??

Yeah, the Captain Marvel suit's a little better.. I just had to point out how biased that wording was

Well yeah I'm an Internet poster with an opinion

What would people say if the design took some inspiration from some of these carbon swimsuits:

I'm not talking about the cut of the suit, so ignore the fact that her arms are showing or that the suit cuts off at the knees. Read that again: ignore the fact that her arms are showing or that the suit cuts off at the knees. I'm talking about the way the pink and black go together and how the black breaks up the pink. Here are some other angles which show the leg part more clearly:

http://www.proswimwear.co.uk/brands...openback-kneesuit-cyan-grey.html?options=cart

As you can see, the colour scheme on the legs kind of splits in half with the inner part being pink/red or blue and the outer part being black. Also notice how the black part goes all the way up over the hips to where the armpits would be, giving the impression of a high cut hip but without actually exposing any skin.

As for which colours would be where, that's another matter, but I'm just talking about the general design here. It would break up the colours a bit, would be a bit of a nod to the swimsuit costume while still covering her up and not looking too bland.

I don't like any of her costumes. The current costume is the best, but that's not really saying much. It is boring and it's most valuable quality, not being a stripper costume, kinda shows in turning her into a generic superhero, albeit with an allusion to an even more generic one.

I would do something different. I'd play with it until I found an element that could be added that would make it cool and dynamic in its own right, without the context of 70s comics or the Warbird costume.

They better make durn shore her ankles is covered up all the way. If 'lil Pete sees something like that he's liable to start spendin all his time out behind the barn agin.

^Ugh. It's just sooo "I'm a generic superhero." I want more, man.

Extreme much? There's a lot of grey area between being a stripper and being a Quaker. Everyone else live in that grey area, why shouldn't Carol Danvers?

That's a very nice manip, jamce!

For the actual movie costume, I'm hoping for a more "alien" textured material...I'm just not sure what, yet.

ok... thanks for the critique. lol

My bad... the work you've done is absolutely superb. It passes for a real movie poster in my book, and I like your take on the costume more than the one in the comics right now. I really should have said that before going on my rant about the costume.

The work you've done is good, but somehow the way everything fits together on her (eg the length of the red on her chest and a few other things) makes her look more like she's wearing Spider-Man's costume. Just give her a spider instead of a star, get rid of the gold and she kind of looks like an unmasked Spider-Girl.

This is partly why I prefer the colour scheme of her original costume with red as the dominant colour.

If Carol just had a costume like Captain Mar-Vell had like this

where, instead of the thigh-high boots, she just had red legs and ankle or knee-length boots, it would look fine and perfectly acceptable on film. So imagine Mar-Vell's in a more feminine form and without the Nega Bands, and that would be what I would want for Carol. Instead of the underpants, she could have a blue sash around her waist.

I can't believe all the hate for Carol's Captain Marvel suit, I think it's such a cool design! I feel like the mask is very unique and not "generic super hero".

I'm well aware, thanks, but that's not going to stop me from taking the piss out of some of the over-the-top reactions from posters who can't even bother to clearly read the post they suddenly find themselves infuriated by.

I personally prefer blue being the dominant color on her costume, but I think that might just be because I'm not a fan of red in general, haha.

That looks like a generic SHIELD costume with the Kree star painted on it. I really hope we don't get that. So boring.

Well the movie Avengers do work for SHIELD so it wouldn't a stretch. Its probably what would look most practical and less jarring alongside the rest of the Avengers. I dont think the bright colorful look from the comic would translate as well onscreen without appearing a bit silly and out of place with the rest of the group. The black could work if it was altered to be a dark navy

So you want Carol to look like every other SHIELD agent or female movie character in a generic dark jumpsuit?

The point about the Avengers is that their costumes shouldn't all look unified. Some of them can look jarring alongside each other and out of place with the rest of the group. Iron Man's armour doesn't exactly fit in with Cap's US-flag inspired costume, Thor's Asgardian armour or Hulk's green skin. And none of them fit in with the SHIELD agents.

Also, the movie Avengers don't work for SHIELD anymore. SHIELD as a giant organisation is disbanded, and the only remaining ones are a renegade group. with a director all the Avengers think is dead. The Avengers are their own organisation now. There is no need for Carol to look like SHIELD.

We are not still in Bryan Singer's X-Men era with the black leather jumpsuits that are the only thing that make sense for any hero and would be the most practical. Otherwise why not have Iron Man in a black leather jumpsuit too since his armour could easily have thought to have been to garish and silly looking before his movie came out? And in fact people did think Iron Man's armour would look like a walking academy award and would need to be seriously redesigned or its colour scheme changed. Iron Man can just be a metaphorical name to refer to his strength or character or iron will in the face of adversity. :o
