I'm long partial to the Warbird look (granted, I've long wanted her to sport actual pants there), but I'm warming to the Captain Marvel look. Just have her with her hair how it's traditionally been and not whatever it was they had her going through after the mantle take-up.

The original Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell) died ages ago, so recently Captain America convinced Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers) that she should take the name for herself. She was a bit reluctant at first, but eventually agreed to it.

It's certainly more appropriate on her than Monica Rambeau,who almost seemed to have randomly picked that name when Photon would've been more suitable in the first place. Her calling herself that is like Spider-Man deciding after he got his powers to call himself Captain Marvel.

you mean, between her boring, modern, standard-issue, every-female-has-to-wear-a-jumpsuit, or the outdated 80's style mono-kini??

I actually like the idea of Carol with shorter hair (again it fits with the whole military aesthetic). However, I don't like the Mohawk or the mask. Just let the hair hang down normally.

I really disliked the new costume when it debuted. The mohawk and the awful helmet are the worst. Though I have seen some good renditions of the suit by some artists, but sadly they're few and far between. Even on its good day I'm really sceptical the current suit can be made to look good in live action.

Regardless of that, I am very keen to see what kind of costume they give her in the movies. Hopefully she doesn't end up like Hawkeye where it's just a very subdued jumpsuit. I want her to look like a superhero.

Just a random thought... does it cause any kind of problem that Mar Vell's starburst (also seen on both Carol's original and latest costume) is basically identical to the Nova Corps' starburst? I mean, the Nova Corps seem to really like that symbol... they built their city in that shape, and their fighters, and the logo on their helmets.

Maybe it's not an issue, since a similar starburst pattern (but black instead of yellow) can be seen on Malekith's breastplate.

I think I would be happy with that, but still would like her to have a sash around her waist. It's something iconic to most versions of Carol.

I would want her to have the bare shoulders, so that it doesn't just look like a generic jumpsuit.

But maybe the red and blue colour scheme is more superheroic than black again, which is way overused.

Keep in mind that Carol will presumably have some scenes in outer space, so a black costume on a black background might not be ideal. Even in the picture posted by harryoscop, she's starting to blend into her surroundings.

I still cant believe we're finally getting a female superhero movie from Marvel and even more someone as powerfull as Carol
I just cant wait to see her on the big screen and in action, it can be sooo badass

Keep in mind that Carol will presumably have some scenes in outer space, so a black costume on a black background might not be ideal. Even in the picture posted by harryoscop, she's starting to blend into her surroundings.

That's why I personally think her original costume which is a nod to Mar-Vell's costume would be best. It has red as the primary colour scheme with blue gloves, shoulders, boots and sash compared to her modern costume which is almost the reverse of that. Red would stand out better and would look more vibrant.

She also needs to contrast with the other captain, Captain America, who has blue as the primary colour scheme with red gloves and boots which is too similar to Carol's modern costume.

I was actually thinking of the version in A:EMH upon which that is based. A variant of that would be cool:

But there is also the Moonstone version of that costume which looks great and ought to have been Ms Marvel's costume herself. I can't find a picture of that at the moment. I think it looks pretty similar to the above.

Yeah, that is similar to the Karla Sofen version.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the second picture The Caped Knight posted earlier is Sofen, not Danvers.

Carol needs a costume that is instantly recognisable and can even be worn as a fancy dress costume (once the merchandising hits) where everyone will immediately know it's Captain Marvel and don't have to ask "is it the Matrix"? or something similar.

Would non fans even recognise a Black Widow costume if they saw one? Certainly I don't think that people could tell apart costumes worn by the likes of Aeon Flux, Underworld, the Matrix, the X-Men and any other generic black catsuit.

We definitely don't want Carol to end up like that, which is why I think red and blue would be the way to go rather than black yet again.

In my experience, yes they do. The BW symbol on the belt and general design (which is distinctive in the MCU gives it away).

No not really. The costumes look very little alike. Here they are side by side:

When skin is showing in stupid ways like that, yes I am going to write it off. Notice how NONE of the other Avengers have stupid stuff like that. Give her pants and make the boots normal size and maybe we've got something. But honestly I just prefer her current look (it's better imo).

You're clearly very tunnel-visioned then, especially after I've already said that she can wear pants. I'm asking if you're going to write off the general design of the costume. Yes, there is skin showing, but you need to look past that and see how it could look if it didn't have it showing. It's like you only focus on the skin and that's all you see, when I'm talking about the overall design and colour scheme. And this is clearly a case of you throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

She can wear something similar to her modern costume but with the reverse colour scheme, similar to the original costume - which is what I was hinting at in the first place earlier.

With pants I'd be on board with that costume, but I think I've decided I prefer when the colors are reversed and the majority of the torso is the dark blue, like with the current costume.
