Action-Adventure Captain Planet----Live Action

This could easily be something like a horror comedy. Five kids find five mysterious rings, accidentally summon the force of nature known as Captain Planet, but they think he's some kind of monster at first. Then they realize he's actually on their side and they use his help to defeat whatever villain comes along to threaten the planet.

Think about it, Sony...

Where does Gaia come in?

Maybe they have to journey to Hope Island to find her, and she guides them in how to use their powers to defeat the villain(s).

just do the Don Cheadle version of Captain Planet. i would pay to see that!

Will it be possible to do such a movie and What will captain Planet Plot include ?

This film won't end up happening and rightfully so.

Captain Planet is a weak "hero"

every time the Planeteers would summon Captain Planet, he would start kicking some ass and then get into trouble which then led to the Planeteers having to save his useless ass.

He was a useless ex machina.

As I recall, the show was more about the Planeteers anyway. Captain Planet himself probably had about three minutes of screen time per episode.

I don't see how you can make Captain Planet "cool" to a mass audience. What is supposed to be the appeal of this?

Yeah, because it's all a myth propagated by 97 percent of active climate scientists! I'm sure you're much more knowledgeable on the subject than they are.

Jeff did Skumm's voice for a couple of seasons & I can't think of another actor to play Skumm on big screen.

For say Sly Sludge Martin Sheen (voice actor) may be getting on but I believe he can play him on big screen if not I would cast Jack Black or Danny Devito.

Is there some huge demand for a Capt. Planet movie? Because this sounds like a bad idea to me.

I'd say it's an attempt to capitalize on the growing "green movement" and general audience knowledge of global warming and environmental causes. Just like the original cartoon.

Yeah, that's my thought, too. I'm kind of surprised that there hasn't been some attempt at reviving the franchise. Environmentalism is bigger now than when the cartoon first came out.

I was surprised it took this long too but Hollywood is often very slow to adapt to certain changes while ironically quick to jump on the bandwagon of anything new and successful.

Teenagers that can shoot elemental powers out of rings on their fingers and save the world. How can people not find that cool?

I agree with you on Jeff Goldblum being perfect for Verminus Skumm. I never realized how rat-like his face was until now.

As for Sly Sludge, I'd go with Danny Devito. Just watch old reruns of Taxi and you'll see he's perfect for the part.

Earlier in this thread someone suggested Michelle Pfiepher (however the hell you spell her damn name) as Dr. Blight. I think that's a pretty good casting choice. Her or Heather Locklear. But as I mentioned earlier in this thread, Dr. Blight needs to have a decent back story for her to work as a villain. On the show she always had the dumbest evil schemes which made no sense what so ever. "I am going to dump all this toxic waste into the world's drinking water, and pump toxic fumes into the air, so that nothing on Earth can survive! Not even ME! Mwahahahahaha!" Yeah, great plan there Evil Genius.

Has anyone seen this fan trailer? It's a pretty good direction for the film to go in I think.

Somebody send that trailer to the producers. It highlights every reason this movie is a terrible idea.

What the hell. Is this serious. If this gets made over WW I'll go all Kill Bill on every producer in Hollywood. :ikyn
