Its okay man. No hard feelings.:cwink:

He he.
Lets hope that this film is not as butchered as the last one. I don't blame Hoy for what happened on FF1 btw.

Well I know of one that would disagree with you, as for me, I'm just looking forward to a good movie.

Well hopefully he'll actually be allowed to do his job this time. And no other Fox editors will come in and re-edit the film as what has happened with DD, FF etc.

That happened? I've never read that about either. Not that I've read anything about DD. But from all the stuff I've read and heard about FF, I've never heard of anyone else doing the editing except Hoy. I know that some director's are in as well, but from what Tim said about the Director's cut, he is going to put back in alot of the stuff that he wanted in, in the first place. That pretty much told me he wasn't present during editing. Other than that, I've never heard or read anything that said more than Hoy. I'm sure this has happened, but I've never seen documentation so to speak.

It's just one of the possible versions. Fox bringing in another editor to re-edit(not like studios have never brought in uncredited editors to re do their films) and the other is just bombarding the editor with notes and basically not letting the director anywhere near it.

Daredevil theatrical vs Daredevil Directors Cut is like watching two completely different movies. Fox had a lot to do with the editing of that movie. I think director MSJ said on the commentary that they basically wanted a faster paced more Garner and less swearing and violence (to keep PG-13 rating). So about half an hour was sliced from that film.

If you've seen the deleted scenes for FF1 you'd be inclined to think the studio had something to with editing of that film as well.

Shorter running time & PG-13 rating = more screenings per day = more money = Fox happy = fan happy?!?

I certainly believe they did in getting it cut down to 105 minutes. But, Hoy could have just made some bad decisions as to what to cut. Who knows if those were his choices or not. I think once we've seen the sequel that can be determined better.

It's too hard to judge via sequel(even though it was Fox in th)e case of FF) considering a deal could have and probably was made.

If it is again 105 minutes, and it looks like good scenes (as were cut in the first), while I'll lay 90% of the blame on Story this time, I think we can definitely blame Fox.

Why Blame Story though? He reallyt has nothing to do with it. He's not being allowed. Hell, even Ridley Scott couldn't get his actual cut of the movie out of Fox.

That's why I assume, and hope that Marvel and Story struck a deal where they can't be ****ed around with. It certainly seems like Story has more power this time around. Jones playing SS. Real Doom. So hopefully in regards to editing. The director is actually allowed to go into the little room.

He has always been a big part of the editing in his other films. I was surprised that he wasn't for the first. After what happened with his film this last time, I don't think they will be able to keep him out of the editing room. As far as "Barbershop" he was a part of every aspect of that movie from the writing, to the filming to the editing. That has been his biggest critical success thus far, I have a feeling he will be a part. If not, if he doesn't fight to get his film, then he doesn't have the balls to be a big time director of a blockbuster, IMO.

OK so that means Ridley scott has no balls and is no big time director because he wasn't allowed to have the KOH movie he wanted. :o

and I thougth ridley was a big time A director.

Well, they did give (eventually) Ridley his cut of KOH. Though they only released it in like 2theaters and then went straight to DVD. I guess that's the fox VIP treatment.

Agreed.

It's interesting when directors like Tim Story or Bryan Singer either edit their own films or utilize their preferred choice of editors (i.e. John Ottman for Singer's X2) the films have a more seamless, stylized feel.

In contrast, when you get the studio-mandated William Hoy type-editors involved, things go to hell--complete with ADD-paced, choppy work. X3, FF1, and Daredevil are prime examples of that.

The question is...has Fox learned from their mistakes in the past? It's one thing to dupe viewers the first time, and have them walk away from the theatre's dissatisfied and grumbling. You've got their money and that's that. But those audiences will NOT be fooled a second time. If word breaks that FF2 is more of the same, we can expect a total bomb based on word-of-mouth. So what will the studio do differently to gain their confidence back?

I will say this, one time, if I have to eat my words later on, I will be happy to.

It seems that Fox has made some very specific, intricate, major changes to the people involved in the film. ie

1). Writing
2). Art
3). Special Effects
4). Visual Effects
5). Production Design
6). Cinematography
7). Make-up Department
8). Production Management
9). Sound Department
10). Stunts

All of these were areas of concern from the first film. I'm excited about these changes, and hopefully Tim will be much more of a force in this film.

Really? Hmmm. Those would have been interesting to see.
