Who would you cast to play Cable?
Here are some of my picks

Dolph Lundgren
Age 51
Height 6' 5"

Gerard Butler
Age 39
Height 6' 2"

Why does everyone go by phsyical appearance rather than acting ability, and story developement upon which you would cast such a character like Cable...

My choice which alot of you will probably hate, but i think he would be an excellent CABLE...

George Clooney...!

Now before you slate him, let me explain.

Cable in the comics was alot older than Cyclops and Jean, infact he was touching 50 as apposed to Cyclops who is in his 30's...

Now i always felt that Cable was more of a senor figure more like Professor X is and Magneto, Professor X doesnt really have muscles but magneto does. We didnt have a muscled magneto for the x-men movie... But Ian McKellan worked.

Cable has lived his life, he is old, he is tired and he is fighting a war that hasnt even happend yet. Its highly unlikely they will explain the future in the x-men world. Time Travel is beyond explination as expliation for mutants is beyond a normal tv series.

So why George Clooney, Well he has Cables face, hes in good shape, hes not Cable musclelly but i think if he was to be in an action movie he could fight... He was in Batman & Robin... please disregard the horrible movie to tarnish his acting ability. George Clooney was a brilliant Bruce Wayne... everything else about that movie was terrible. If George had taken over from Keaton as batman it probably would of been a million times better.

Ok so tell me what you think?

Clooney would be horrible.

You need someone rough around the edges...Rutger Hauer could do an old warrior proud, I think.

And you arent finding anyone that age who would have Cables comic book build and be able to act as well.

I don't think the guy needs to be in his 50's.

40's would be fine, just make sure he looks very worn around the edges.

I think itd be funny if they cast the same actor to play every Rob Liefeld leader-type.

Sean Bean

I always thought of Harrison Ford when I pictured Cable.

Agreed. It's a no brainer to cast Rourke as that old battle ax.
True. And I think it adds a nice touch that before years of hard life took their toll on Rourke's face, he was actually pretty enough to be related to James Marsden.

Sean Bean is a good idea as well.

Im too much of a continuity freak to want Rourke for the role...

Id keep wondering why no one ever accused him of being an Iron Man villian.

I feel they need to cast someone young, preferrably someone with background in Broadway, like H. Jackman.

But the only actors in their late 20s/early 30s that come to mind are Joseph Gordon Levitt (not sure about acting chops, but would look good with the scar), Liam Hemsworth, I really don't know.

Cable's gotta have some age and experience to him. Early to mid 40's I think would be the best, but late 30's would be fine depending on the actor. Your gonna need someone who looks like they have been through war and can go toe to toe with Deadpool or Wolverine.

Tom Hardy would be a good choice imo.

He is my #1 choice for the role. Can headline the film. Can obviously do action. But can act as well. He's young enough to play this character for a while, and old enough to where they can believably age him to look appropriate. As a total bonus, he kind of looks like Sheridan.

He is the perfect choice and i think Fox like him .

Cyclops is young so his son from the future being so much older is the interesting part.

Tom Hardy would be a good choice imo.

I think he's a WB/DC guy at this point unfortunately

Nothing beats Greg Capullo's Cable in my book.

He would be perfect. Hopefully he'd like to work for Fox

He passed on Suicide Squad and was in the running for Apocalypse so I don't see why not. He makes films for other studios.

At this point I think if he's to make another Superhero flick it will be a lead role that won't be overshadowed by a one off character or having to wear a mask/rely heavily on cgi.

After Suicide Squad buzz, i think Fox will try to have some big names for X Force.

I respect your view, but one of the things I admired most about Cable was that, although he was certainly inspired by Xavier's ideals, he still did his own thing. Where Magneto represented "the closed fist", and Xavier, "the open hand", Cable fell somewhere in between and wasn't a slave to either approach. That said, I feel like the generic X-Man costume takes away from his individuality to a certain extent.

I think that's a given irrespective of SS, considering that Fox has already been on a roll of late with stellar casting choices.

I can't think of anyone in Hollywood who would be a good fit for Cable just yet. :hmm

You're right. He's perfect.
