Cast the MCU X-Men/Fantastic Four

Asian Namor?

I think that could be cool.

Only problem is a lot of the Asian actors who I think would be a good fit are too old, but that's where people who get paid to do these things come in handy :woot:

Maybe Leonardo Nam?

Jon Foo as Namor if you want an Asian Namor but a white Namor then my 2nd choice would be either Eric Bana or Jonathan Rhys Meyers

Im confident Marvel could find a good Namor. They plucked Loki and Thor out of nowhere and they were perfect

I remember the rights being pretty unclear. Hopefully they can figure something out. Namor is an absolute MUST now that the F4 are coming home

Doesn't Universal have the namor rights?

Not THE rights, but I believe they have distribution rights, like with Hulk, so Marvel is unlikely to make a solo movie as they'd have to split some profits.

If thats the case namor could just show up in an F4 movie.

Universal doesn't have a "use it or lose it" deal with Namor?

Typically if a studio doesn't use a character the rights revert back to Marvel after a while.

I don't want Cho as Reed. I want the traditional FF adapted properly. I don't want Marvel to let the 2005 and 2007 Fox FF look like the most comic-faithful version we've had on the big screen, or for the Roger Corman version to look like the most faithful ever adapted.

No more fancy casting or tinkering with the designs. Just take a page out of the Imaginauts FF story where these comic writers (within the story) are constantly trying to tweak the designs to make the FF more relevant. But then they send a representative to spend a week with the FF.

His conclusion at the end of it is that people shouldn't try to get further away from what people love about the FF by changing all these things about them, but to go back to basics and adhere MORE faithfully to the original comics, because that's what people need to see.

I don't want Reed or any of the other FF race swapped just for the sake of it. Doing that again this time will also bring echoes of all the controversy with doing that for Johnny Storm. The FF in the MCU need to be controversy free this time round and go off without any kind of hitches.

If people want to race swap someone - race swap an X-Man. Make Wolverine black or Asian.

I just don't want Marvel to be effectively admitting that they can't top any of the Fox FF adaptations so they have to go so different to distinguish themselves. On the contrary, if they go more faithful, they WILL distinguish themselves.

Faithfully adapting a character is SO MUCH MORE than aesthetics. Nothing about Reed's character comes from him being white. If John Cho embodies Reed's personality and what makes him unique, then he is a faithful adaptation, regardless of what color his skin is. And worrying about stirring controversy amongst the subset of thinly-veiled racist fans that pop up every time this sort of thing happens is ABSOLUTELY NOT a reason to guide their casting decision. If you ask me, if those people are ticked off than they're doing something right.

I don't think distribution rights work the same, otherwise they would be worthless (a company could sell distribution rights and then just not make a film and pocket any upfront payments).

It depends, distribution rights can be time dependent, too. Example, Disney distributed Chronicles of Narnia 1 and 2, opted to not do a 3rd and let the rights lapse, then FOX made the 3rd. So they can be finite if inactive too long, depends on the agreement. Seems like Universal's must either be REALLY long or they maintain right of first refusal indefinitely, meaning Marvel would have to make the movie and Universal say no to distributing it for Disney to do it. Same with Namor. But, Namor would be great as a villain in a FF film or in BP2.

Distribution rights work differently. Look at Hulk, he hasn't had a solo for almost 10 years and Namor has never been in any live action thing.

I like the idea of Fiennes and Neeson as Charles and Erik but only if Ralph is Prof. X and Liam is Magneto.

Things I am 100% NOT down for:
1) Origin movies starring 30+ year olds who discovered their powers at 14-16. Makes ZERO sense, and it makes their stories kinda dumb, and there's no good reason for it. X-Men went though a lot of stories before they could be played by 30 year olds becuase the concept of powers at puberty demands it.
2) Any handwaving of the X-Men being active but unknown in the MCU for 10+ years. Secret magicians in remote Asia and mirror dimensions they are not.
3) 90 year old Magneto. De-aging is contrived as hell and the fact that Western Culture has no respect for any other genoicde as a character moment is embarassing.

X-Men: Homecoming (Sky High meets Chronicle)
Charles Xavier: Jeffrey Wright
Erik Lensherr: Alexander Siddig
Scott Summers: Logan Lerman
Jean Grey: Shailene Woodley
Hank McCoy: Dev Patel
Warren Worthington: Jack Gleeson
Bobby Drake: Levi Miller
Candy Southern: Abigail Breslin
Agent Fred Duncan: Omar Epps
Agent Val Cooper: Cameron Diaz
Kitty Pryde: Mackenzie Foy
Logan: Kit Harrington
Ororo Munroe: Keke Palmer
Kurt Wagner: Asa Butterfield
Piotr Rasputin: Will Poulter
Betsy Braddock: Ellen Wong
Marie D'Ancato: Hailee Steinfeld
Raven Darkholme: Sofia Boutella
Fred Dukes: Bobby Moynihan
Mortimer Toynbee: Thomas Brodie-Sangster

Honestly there are certain actors I'd want to reuse. Sophie Turner, Kodi Smit McPhee, the whole New Mutants cast, honestly.

Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol is like a cartoon?

Watch it while watching an episode of Looney Tunes. If you don't see it than I can't help you.

It drives me crazy though. It makes everything feel so conveniently unnatural and cliched. Ghost Protocol is the worst in the series cuz of this.
It bothers the crap out of me.

He couldn't even make it work for Tomorrowland which lent itself for this but it still felt off.

I like Brad Bird but he shouldn't direct live action at all.

Certain characters are hard to cast when I don’t know what ages Feige is looking for. Classic teen X-Men or more adult?
