OK 1920s era Silent Batman & Superman Film:Nice. Time to get working on a Superman cast starring Harold Lloyd.
Siegel - "We especially loved some of those movies in which Harold Lloyd would start off as a sort of momma's boy being pushed around, kicked around, thrown around, and then suddenly would turn into a fighting whirlwind."
Shuster- "I was kind of mild-manned and wore glasses so I really identified with it"
Bob Kane - "I didn't want Batman to be a Superhero with superpowers. So I made Batman an ordinary human being; he is just an athlete who has the physical prowess of Douglas Fairbanks, Sr., who was my all-time favorite hero in the movies.
Bill Finger - "Batman was a combination of Douglas Fairbanks and Sherlock Holmes."
Roy Thomas - "Bill maintained (well into the 1960’s) a file of Douglas Fairbanks Sr. photo stills. He showed me the file and said that he would attach selected photos to finished scripts for Bob [Kane] and his assistants to use as models. I recognized pose after pose."
Nah, Hal Jordan and Carol Ferris were based on Newman and Taylor.

When the plans for a Superman film end up in development hell, Warner Bros. decide to sell the film rights for the DC Universe to superproducer Dino De Laurentiis. Fresh off Flash Gordon, the Italian hires his frequent collaborator Lorenzo Semple Jr. to write a campy screenplay based on the Batman TV series (for which Semple had developed and written many episodes). British filmmaker Richard Lester is chosen to direct due to his 60s swinging films and rock band ELO is commissioned to compose the score (inspired by the success of Queen's Flash Gordon soundtrack). Thinking big, De Laurentiis plans to develop a franchise based on the other DC superheroes. Batman: The Movie is a hit in Europe but gets slaughtered by most critics (effectively putting the hopes for a franchise to rest), with few of them appreciating it's tongue-in-cheek style and comic-strip sensibility. Despite the bad reception and its "success" at the Razzies it gathers a large cult following, mainly because of its campy tone, over-the-top performances and bombastic soundtrack.
