Y'know, it sucks that Rise of the Cobra was the first G.I. Joe movie. They could've made a film anytime in the last 20 years, but NO, they just had to wait until Transformers was a hit, just in time for the writers' strike.

Yeah, it would have worked well in the mid 80's to mid 90's. With so many great action movies in that era to draw inspiration from, it would have been the perfect time. It could have even been an "Expendables" type of movie too, where many of the action guys from the time could have been a part.

I remember having an idea for a Green Lantern movie back in the mid-90s when I read a lot of comics. It was loosely based on the Emerald Twilight story. The story begins with the GL corps being destroyed (by Hal, though that wouldn't be revealed at the beginning) and Ganthet actually using the last of his power to go back in time and give the ring to someone who might be able to stop it. He finds Kyle and gives him the ring, but dies before he can explain the situation. Eventually, Hal shows up and tries to figure out why Kyle has this ring, and eventually takes him to Oa, he trains him to use the ring, and they try to solve the mystery of what is going on.

It's 1969. After the TV series starring Adam West fizzles out, DC decides to reboot Batman to attract a new audience, creating a more serious, mature Batman film series. Before an accurate G.I. Joe movie can be made we have to understand who G.I. JOE is and, conversely, who COBRA is.

We also have to have a full and complete grasp of parallel universes because it doesn't look like a G.I. Joe vs Cobra stand-off is possible in the current state of affairs and all fantasy has to be based in some reality and the more the better.

The only way to do it - rationalize parallel universes in relation to one's self and write your way to how G.I. Joe and Cobra and their feud come to be.

It can be done, it can be saved, it can revolutionize.

I was watching The Lion King last week and I thought how awesome it would be if Jeremy Irons played Javert in Les Miserables, since the guy can sing. But he would have been too old for the part in the 2012 film. Then I started thinking, if they made the movie 20 years ago he would have been perfect for it. Apparently they tried turning the musical into a movie in the early 90s, but it never came to fruition. So here's my attempt at casting Les Miserables, circa 1993. All of these actors can sing too.

This one was hard to cast, but here goes nothing. All controversy aside, let's put aside everything that we know about him today. Twenty years ago, this guy was one of the biggest stars on the planet. Plus his singing voice is pretty good too (Just look at the deleted song from Pocahontas). I'm no fan of the guy, but he would have been good for the role back then.
