Cast your Conan movie

I've always thought Vinnie Jones could be an outstanding Conan. Just bulk him up(no prosthetics like Juggernaut, now).

For villains, either Thoth Amon

or Thulsa Doom

I'd like to see Dwayne Johnson as Conan. He pretty much played the character in Scorpion King.

I'd rather see a Conan film than a King Conan movie also. Just do a reboot.

I hope they go for a more Ron Perlman-type of character actor(i.e, Vinie Jones) than a wrestler or a bodybuilder.

What I would love to see is a new Conan show done right like Rome. That other show had good stories but it had a wrong actor playing Conan and bad locations shots.

In the first place, not Schwarzenneger, whose Conan was always quite brutish and boring.

The real Conan, at least according the comics, would be Clancy Brown, here:

From this site: http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/~gambler/kira/cb/gallery-4.html

But, since he is probably too old for the role, I would chose Type 0 Negative's vocal player: http://ahnberg.pp.se/~millan/typeo/pics/pete2.jpg

As for the villain, Bor'ak Shar'ak has no rival in style and personality.

i'd make it cgi, like the new Beowulf movie...

Why not Gerald Butler? The Rock can't act, unless hes in a wrestling ring. No wrestler should play Conan or act in a movie unless they don't talk.

matybe mr butler doesn't want to be typecas as barbarian warriors

Although he probably wouldnt want to, Gerard Butler would be perfect. Clancy Brown, Ron Perlman and pretty much all the other names mentioned wouldnt be nearly as fitting. Check out the current Cary Nord, Kurt Busiek comic.... thats the Conan they should adapt (although the Arnold/Milius rendition will eternally kick the most ass).

i wish i had a clue who to cast as conan

Why not Gerald Butler?

This is who I would pick also. I would like to see Triple H rather than the Rock as far as wrestlers or even bodybuilders go. But Gerald Butler really impressed me with his size in the HBO first look for 300. You can tell the guy is in great shape in 300 but on HBO you really got to see his size. I think he should add 10-15lbs of muscle. But I really believe a new Conan movie is coming out when I see the preview.

I have mentioned this in an older thread similar to this. Karl Urban, from Pathfinder, Chronicles of Riddick,Lord of theRings, Xena (Julius Cesar) and a few others.

And if not for Pathfinder (a movie that IMO looks very close to Conan) I would agree. I just think after doing Pathfinder he might not want to do Conan.

I do not know about that. But think about this. Why would he do Doom if have done Chronicles of Riddick? Or would we have don Pathfinder he did Lord of the
Rings or LotR after Xena/Hercules?

True, he would be a great choice however and is young enough to give us at least 3 or more Conan movies.

Whoever they get(I'm in the camp thinking Butler would be perfect), let's hope they keep it rated R like the 1st Conan movie. Keeping that score would be good as well, unless they could top it(which I can't see ever happening).

I'd cast Daniel Cudmore, not a great actor by any means but to play Conan you don't have to be. He is 6'8 and built. 6 freakin' 8....

I'd like to see a relatively unknown who is a giant muscle .

Is Conan really all that tall though? I mean I always assumed he was 6ft or so but what defined him more seemed to be how buff he was rather than his height. By contrast, Thor for example needs both height and bulk. I mean, Arnold was physically perfect for the role when he played him. I just never could understand why they didn't dye his hair black.

Arnold was only 6 foot 2. And Gerard Butler is only 6 foot 1. Conan just has to be menacing, black haired, blue or green eyed and must tower over currs, scoundrels and dogs!
