Casting the DC Universe

I just wish people would stop casting actors that did the voices of characters in cartoons for live action roles. It's not gonna happen, and is a sign of a lack of creativity. I love Mark Hammil's Joker, but I don't want him for a movie. Come up with something new, guys. You can do better.

The voice actyors I cast are good actors and look the part anyway. Ioan Gruffudd look like he could play Mister Miracle, although I don't know for sure. And Eads definitely looks like Captain Atom to me, and can act too. I think my casting is very creative. Whats not creative is casting Christian Bale as Batman because he already is playing Batman.

Casting the...

JUSTICE LEAGUE International
PART 2

Sam Neill or Rupert Evans as Maxwell Lord.
Artist Kevin Maguire drew Maxwell Lord as Sam Neill from from the Omen III from the very beginning. He even says so. But perhaps he is too old now, so maybe Evans could do it instead. He sort of looks the part. And I think there were rumors about him playing Lord at one time.

Lucy Liu, or Grace Park, as Dr. Light
I don't know how necissary casting a actor of the same nationality as the character they are portraying is, but here are a few choices for Dr. Light. I wasn't sure who because I am unfamiliar with the character.
Someone suggested Lucy Liu, but maybe she is too old for the young character now.
Or maybe Grace Park could play Dr. Light.

DennisHaysbertasMartianManhuntermay.jpg

Dennis Haysbert as Martian Manhunter.
Jonn needs to have a powerful voice, Haysbert is a good actor
and can play an action type hero, as well as have a powerful voice.

MichaelWeatherlyasBoosterGoldmaybe.jpg

Another choice for Booster Gold is Michael Weatherly.
On NCIS he plays a sort of comedic role, maybe he could pull of Booster.

I am not sure who could play Big Barda.
She would have to be bigger than Mister Miracle,
but also be a good actress and not just a wrestler.

I'm also sorry to say that I have no clue, at the moment,
who should play Dr. Fate.

I also don't know who to cast as Oberon.

Any suggestions for these roles?
Barda? Oberon? Fate?

Here's a somewhat controversial choice that could potentially be great, but I'd like some feedback.

With another Superman film in the works...

Could Dwayne Johnson potentially play Darkseid?

He has the star power, the build, the smugness, the height, the voice etc

The Rock VS The Routh?

nah no Rock as Darkseid

I dont mind him I really liked him in Gridiron Gang but not for Darkseid

The Rock could work, or maybe not, but I'd like to see Darksied featured first in a New Gods movie. Since that was what he was created for (Kirby's New Gods). But I could see him working very well as a Superman bad guy, very well. I even thought it a while back too:

But i'd rather see Darksied versus Orion.

There's no "New Gods" movie planned now...

But a Darkseid appearance in Superman could easily set up a "New Gods" film if Darkseid is a hit with audiences.

That is so true it would definitely work.

I badly want a New Gods movie, I think it would be DC's Lord of the Rings (which strangely is how Kirby intended the New Gods to be) and a camoe or starring role in another film by Darksied could boost hype and convince a studio to make a new Gods movie.

interesting choices.

Thanks, I'm glad you guys(Cin0, Metamorpho, and others; sorry if I forgot anyone) like it. MOT I see your point about the whole Gamble in Batman thing. But Ryan Reynolds has been casted as three comic characters from Hannibal King (even though I didn't like him as the character he did ok), Deadpool (Perfect casting), and the soon to be released Green Lantern (Personally I think Sam Worthington would've been better, but I'll try it before I knock it).

However, if a bunch of actors in their thirties can play teenagers I think an older guy who doesn't look old can play a younger guy. Plus Michael can actually act unlike most actors that play younger roles. I also agree on the New Gods set up. Artistsean, I like your JLI cast, pretty damn good.

Red Tornado: Billy Crudup (He did good as the emotionless Dr. Manhattan in Watchmen and seeing as how the Red Tornado is now emotionless judging from the New Animal man tittle: last Days of Animal Man, I think Billy could pull it off again).

Black Lightning: J. August Richards

Dr. Light/Arthur Light: Robert Knepper

Metallo: Josh Lucas

Cheetah: Sienna Miller

Toyman: Pruitt Taylor Vince

Sinestro: Andy Whitfield (Even though I suggested him for Aquaman, this picture kinda reminds me of Sinestro. I can easily see him pissed at Jordan).

Thank u, that's exactly what ive been sayin about lucy lawless playin ww and david boreanaz playin GL. in my opinion that didnt make much of a cartoon movie so why would anybody wanna hear the same voices but with someone that doesnt at all look right, not to say that either one of them would do bad as the character but i wouldnt wanna see that after already watchin the new frontier and not liking it.

Boreanaz was being talked about before New Fontier though. And he wasnt really playing Hal Jordan he was playing a run of the mill 50s tough guy. His role in Bones is not just well performed (cant say so much for Angel) but also extremely close to the way a modern Hal Jordan would be portrayed. Its moot now though

Yup.

I actually wanted Boreneaz for GL if they were casting older. I dont see the LOVE for Nathan Fillon he's good but I dont get it

What was wrong with Angel??

I dont understand why people think The Rock should be Black Adam. He might look the part, but he is an actor of limited range, and while capable of performing a few roles, this is not one I think he could pull off. I think there is very little chance he wont ham it up.

Because his range is not that limited as some people on here say it is.

He makes a great likeable hero, easily one of the better action heroes today, plenty of charm and can really excel with comedy. But his villain role in Doom is a joke, and the closest he got to a real dramatic role was Gridiron Gang which was a cringeworthy performance. I can't see him as Black Adam just because he's got the size and skin tone of Black Adam, but no matter how he looks, he will with 100% certainty give a better performance as Captain Marvel than he could as Black Adam.

The Rock is good in action roles (The Rundown)
Good in dramatic roles (Gridiron Gang)

I wish he would do more good action/dramatic roles because now and in the future (according to his IMDB) is doing crappy kid movie roles....not even good kid flicks.

I disagree I feel w/ the right direction he could be an incredible villain. I'd like him as an anti-hero, though. i think he'd make for a great Lobo, actually.

I think Dwayne Johnson is an underrated actor. I think people automatically think he can't act because he used to be a wrestler. He has range. He can be the funny, loving character, the bad ass action hero, or he could be serious. And he does all effectively and convincingly.

Im not sayin he couldnt have made a good hal jordan, im just sayin i dont wanna see it.

So even though he could have been an excellent hal jordan you dont want to see it solely because he voiced the cartoon once. That sounds ridiculous.
