As an independent film maker I was always hoping to make it big some day and make a big budget comic book movie. After Thor(which is already being made

) I would have choosen Green Arrow to do. I always pictured it as a trilogy though. An origin movie first and maybe introduce Black Canary, Develop their relationship in the second and an almost panel by panel recreation of Mike Grells Longbow Hunters for the third! I would love to use Skarsgard for Ollie, Yvonne Strahovski for Dinah and either Grace Park or Michelle Krusiec for Shado!
As an aspiring film writer/producer(I think I'd suck as a director, I want to write the scripts and then find the cast and crew to make it happen), my top three dream projects as far as comic book characters go are Superman, a Wally West oriented Flash film, and Green Arrow. I like to fancy myself as the savior of DC comic book movies. It's funny though, Superman is my favorite comic book character and I know what I think should be, but I don't know if I'd be the right guy to make it happen. My creative senses, the way I write, the two different tones that I go for, it's geared toward either a Wally West flick or Green Arrow. Those two characters fit this fanboy like a glove. In real life, out of all the comic book characters I see myself the most in Wally West, I AM Wally West to a degree. And with the Green Arrow, I love the themes and messages that go with the character. The modern day robin hood, a bad ass crusader that stands up to social injustice in defense of those who can't, the gritty world GA exists in. Green Arrow is a true champion of the people and for the people. I hate when Green Arrow gets called a Batman clone. And I believe in what Green Arrow believes in, that social and political injustice should not be tolerated, that the weak and needy shouldn't be stepped on or spat on by life. Whats strange is I'm very socially conscious, but I'm fiscally conservative/ I suppose thats what makes me an advocate of finding a third political party.
On a casting note, I'm not sure who I want for Dinah. Thats always been a toughie for some reason. I do know that in addition to Skarsgard as Ollie, I'd cast Scout Taylor-Compton as Mia Dearden, and I've always pictured a younger Dominic Monoghan as Roy Harper. Probably the whole heroin addict thing. Anyway, I've always approached Green Arrow as a television series first. My creative side always thinks television first. There would be six seasons and they would essentially form two different chapters. The first three seasons would be grounded in gritty reality, almost like the Nolan Batman films except if darker and more violent. But, I would leave hints of fantasy/sci-fi/comic book-esque happenings in the world around my Green Arrow. Just subtle eyebrow raising instances that come and go quickly. And then, in the second set of three seasons, I would go full force with the fanatical comic book element. If you watch Lost, it would be similiar with the first few seasons being realistic and mysterious, but it went full blown fanatical the last few seasons. And with Dinah, I'd keep her out of the first half of the series, she would only be there for the fanatical second half.
In addition to the comic book properties that I would want, the signature says it all. I'd like to make a film of television show about World War 1, The Korean War, The War of 1812, and Francis Marion. I would also like to create a film or tv show about the rise of a Third Party in the United States, two original horror/slasher films with one being set in colonial America, and my personal baby, a comedy currently titled "In Good Taste" which is subject to change. My goal is to create the most offensive, inappropriate, apauling, figurativelly grotesque movie ever made using real life stories with a few spins and alterations. Thats my baby, and my other baby is a television show I have in the back of my head that would be titled "The Ville", a dramedy based on life in my home town of Zanesville, Ohio.
