Please. He threw more punches in the Natural Selection episode of SSM than he did in all five seasons of SMTAS combined, lol. :whatever:

he hasn't done that much punching in SSM either, It's more or so he makes a fist (He tried to punch sandman in the face .) And in Natural Selection that wasn't punching .

Looked like punching to ME.

Isn't it more a flash forward at the start since the whole episode has a normal time line but the pre-credit sequence shows a segment of the climax?

I think she does know about Peter and a reason for liking him could be "hero worship" but her knowing can be taken as her knowing the real Peter and liking him as person.

I read an interesting post that indicated that generally speaking a mafia type boss would not usually refer to themselves in the third person; this protects them when talking to someone who is wired.

No, it's a flashback, as he reflects back in the middle of the fight upon the events earlier in the day, and indicates so in his internal monologue. I was just being silly and indicating how much I disliked the sequence. That felt clumsy to me--if it had been a third-person omniscient flash-forward, it wouldn't have been that big of a deal.

However, I do like your idea that MJ knew Peter--the real Peter--and saw him as a nice guy (not that she knew Spider-Man). Nice way to phrase that.

So who do you guys think is the real goblin Harry or Norman.

I think the formula Harry was drinking was a weaker version of the one that turned Norman into the goblin.

I'd guess that it's Norman, if only because they said that they weren't messing with the back stories of any villains whose prior identities were integral to their personas, and Norman feels like one of those.

How right you are, you and Little Foot. I hope that I am forgiven, for I did not mean to stir up chaos.

Don't worry, bud, you didn't do anything wrong. I was just being silly.

This seems like a silly debate. :)

yah he hasn't delivered very many punches at all but the action is a hell of a lot better than the stuff we get in the 90s show... as much as I love the 90s show more "realistic" look and animation, the problem with it is that spidey gets his ass kicked every time only to have someone else either help him or some butt lucky incident help him out... at least here any time he fights he uses his smarts, incredibly quick reflexes and can outfight his opponents

I think my favorite point in this was when he took out the Rhino... i absolutely LOVED that idea of the sweat and dehydration taking him out cuz of the suit... i know it sounds like a really simple idea but just they way they portrayed it was excellent!! stuff like that of why i love this show

I'm not suprised i was completely underwhelmed by this episode, it was pretty much impossible to top the last one.

I thought MJ perhaps said tiger too much and you didn't get that spark from them both.

Pete was a bit annoying not introducing mj to gwen

Harry's goblin formula shennanigens are interesting but still feel its osborn.

As for the goblin himself, I hated the fact they are using these green gasses instead of actual explosions. One of the best thigns about tas were the exploding pumpkin bombs, small/large glider combo and the portrayal of the green goblin.

I did like that building wide flip he did though without his glider.

I felt the goblin was underwhelming and with john coming in now, i probably think it might be a bit early for the symbiote to be coming in. Especially if its before scorpion.

Tombstone still stole the show, his irony line was just beautifully delivered...

And it's not trying to be Smallville like MTV's sPider-Man was.

BTW, lots of breaking glass in this episode. You don't see that alot in cartoons now.

I feel that the "Wow...just wow" move sending the glider through the building was not only showing us how good GG is, but a big kick in the face to anyone that edited that similar sequence out of Spider-man TAS.

I really enjoyed this episode. Green Goblin's voice was great.

that was a great episode but nothing was going to top 'invisible hand' the fact this episode came CLOSE shows the depth of quality the production team has.

How are they getting away with the stuff that had to be edited out of TAS? Are censors just more lenient now, or is it because this is WB and not FOX?

Probably a little bit of both.

Different networks and studios have different sets of standards.

why can't venom wait for three seasons?

I would guess that, as with MJ, Venom is a major part of the Spider-Man mythos in the modern era and so can not be put off till later in the development of the series; also consider that the creators didn't know how long the series would run and so the "big hitters" when it comes to villains and supporting cast need to be introduced in good time to ensure the popularity of the show.

I absolutely loved this episode. I think that this is the best Green Goblin seen since the original. I love where they're taking this show. I really like how we don't know who GG is, and how they're leading us to believe it's Harry. I think two things are going to happen. We will all be sold on the idea that Harry is GG (not that we'll like it, but that it'll seem to be happening) , but then it will turn out that Norman is it, and surprise us. Hopefully we'll find out just like we did in the comics, with him kidnapping Pete and revealing his identity, then losing his memory.

Also, I hope they do the big dinner scene, like was in the comics and in the 90's show. I've always loved that scene.

Also, I think that Harry will be taking the Goblin formula to get better at football, and just to get past how much his life sucks, but it will make him sick, ala his drug addiction. It's the perfect way to carry that plotline through to a cartoon.

I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but does anyone else think that the sinister six will originally be formed by Ock to get revenge on Osborne, and that Spidey will only be fighting them to protect Osborne? Then, maybe, when we find out that Osborne in GG, Tombstone will find out and make another great comment about irony.

Well, I loved this episode. They kept the mystery behind the Gobln's identity, they introduced John Jameson, they made MJ incredibly awesome while still alluding to Gwen's feelings for him. Loved it.

Also, the Spidey/Goblin fight was, well, Spectacular.

I have to say, this is one of the first animated series' that my wife and I have BOTH enjoyed. She actually wakes up on Saturday morning to watch it with me, despite being 8 months pregnant!! It takes a special show to do that.

Either way, I look forward to seeing Doc Ock, as well as whatever else this series gives us!!

Oh yeah, amd hopefully, they'll avoid Carnage like the plague!!

thats probably what they'll do but its pretty stupid. I mean Norman becomes super powerful and Harry only gets slightly better at football? he barely made the team. he should have just taken steroids there more effective lol
