Hey, kids!
Things are really turning to our sides, my friends!
After a year of massive marketing and merchandising of all kind dedicated to our beloved Demon Cyclist; the successful return to his house, the comics universe & finally the deserved huge success of the movie, i just read some incredible news about the return of the CHAMPIONS!
Christ...
It´s 2 good 2 be true.
First, GR FINALE, something almost impossible, happens, after 9 years!
And now, CH V.2.
Stay tuned!
Much more ahead, certainlly.

:woot: The return of the Champions (if Ghostie is involved) would be awesome. I really enjoyed the original series.

Unfortunately, I'm fairly sure that the upcoming CHAMPIONS revamp will have little to nothing in common with the original series/characters. The "new" Champions were introduced in CIVIL WAR # 6, and all seemed to be original characters.

Of course, I could be wrong.

  :down
Mmmm... u make me sad now, Ixnay.
I didn´t read Civil War yet, but, like u said, things could change.
Let´s hope.

In the 2006 Civil War miniseries, a government-sponsored program was started by Tony Stark, Reed Richards and Hank Pym to redistribute America's superhuman protection. As a result of this, a team called the Champions was formed to protect California. Its members are called Hercules II, Hephestos, Aphrodite, Hermes, and Poseidon. Nothing else is currently known about them.

According to Wikipedia. They don't sound nearly as interesting as the original team.

For now, I'll keep my fingers crossed that the new Champions series is more inspired by Giant Size Hulk than Civil War, but somehow I doubt it.

Yeah, i just read Wkipedia too.
Aphrodite? Hercules II????
WTF?
It seems like a very stupid idea 2 me.
With GR on the spotlights, the new Champions could work, really.
I´ve said some other occasions. Millar & Finch, maybe?
A huge hit, no doubts about it.
But it´s just me.
I don´t make the comics, just buy ´em.
Damn, i´m sad right now...
:csad:

As wacky as it sounds, I really WOULD like to see a Champions reunion series, though it would probably work best just as a mini-series. Ghost Rider, Hercules, Black Widow, Iceman, and Angel are all still around, and they even have a good reason to get back together temporarily - namely, to mourn the recent deaths of Darkstar and Black Goliath, who were sorta/kinda teammates.

I'd buy it. Would be a nice little mini and a great throw back to the days of old.

Yeah, guys.
It seems like our positive thoughts were useless.
These "new champions" are really fake ones.
A herc wannabe... my God...
Makes me really sad.
Damn you Matt Fraction!
If the book was written by Mark "the man" Millar ( who btw LOVES GR ), i think he would recast the original team, for sure.
I don´t read the x-books, have no idea where the hell are Warren & Bobby, but since Herc, GR & Natasha are active ( with a possible addiction of Ares & Black Goliath ), why not?
The new book could be well written and all, but, come on, it´s a major waste of time.
CHAMPIONS without the original team is lame.
´Nuff said!
PS: It seems like Millar is trying to do a Ultimate GR title! Let´s cross fingers right now!!! Marvel, wake up!!!

the whole world of the main marvelverse comics is going to hell. its collapsing on itself. all these current miniseries like the civil war and annihilation lines are ruining everything. heroes and villains being killed off (some of them in rele lame ways, like thanos), villains becoming "heroes", identities being revealed, and then theres ghost rider comics being made without any real consideration to the fans of the previous series that got canceled before it could be finished and taking 9 years to be completed with its just one comic just so marvel can cash in on the movie being out. damn the hammerlane series and damn the road to damnation series. i liked the road to damnation series, but i wouldnt consider it canon and i dont think garth ennis thought of it being canon either, he just did it cause he was asked to. since that series marvel decided to milk ghost rider by having a follow up series that not only still makes no sense if its supposed to be canon , but it doesnt even match up with garth ennis' road to damnation series with things like: the outfit and the powers. and i dont know why this isnt so obvious to anyone else esp the ppl here. i mean sides those series marvel is also pumping out other mini series: trail of tears, sleepy hollow, etc. Its ridiculous that this is going on and even more outrageous that you all (at least the fans of ghost rider before the hammerlane and road to damnation series came out) are just taking it without question.WHY!? is it cause yer just pleased that there are even any ghost rider series being done again at all? if thats the case then thats pathetic. YOURE THE FANS,YOURE THE ONES WHO HAVE TO BUY AND READ THE COMICS. write emails or letters to marvel about how this is bull**** and have them fix this mess they have created. man i used to love marvel, now i despise them. whoever is in charge there now is destroying marvel comics.
now is anyone who reads this going to actually comment about what im saying, whether its agreeing or disagreeing with me, or are you going to comment on how horrible i am at typing n how it hurt your eyes to read this or say something about how im "whining" and "quit complaining and just be glad there are any ghost rider comics at all these days". i mean, i know its hard to take me seriously cause im usually immature or a jerk or both,BUT CMON. there is noway out of all of you here, im the only one whos thought about this.

Look, if you don't like the comics, that's fine and it's your right as a reader to not buy or read them. But saying that the current editorial regime is "destroying Marvel" is ridiculous. Have there been things in Quesada's time that I didn't like? Of course...I thought both House of M and Civil War were colossal wastes of time. But just because YOU don't like what's being done with Ghost Rider doesn't mean that other fans don't, and do NOT presume to "call out" fans of the character - including most of us on this board - to rally against something that YOU personally dislike.

As they say, the best way to effect change in comics is to vote with your wallet. If you think the Ghost Rider series is so bad, stop buying it.

i never even started buying it. and i would have figured a guy who runs one of the best GR sites, would think whats being done with the ghost rider comics these days is outrageous. i guess yer just another fanboy thats pleased with whatever he gets as long as its ghostrider related. how can you like whats being done? they dismiss the dan ketch/ noble kale ghost rider and everything that occurred in its time and have started over with a totally diff story that doesnt fit in at all with anything before it. this mess started with hammerlane and then the movie. they want everyone whos a new fan to ghost rider comics to think this is how its been. Unless they actually explain how blaze is the rider again and what happened to kale, ketch, vengeance, caretaker, and the rest of the characters involved with the 90s series and and tie it all in together so it makes sense and a good series, its all garbage. is it so hard for you to think of the possibility that marvel rele is just trying to cash in on the movie by having all of these diff GR series come out? is it so hard to think that they are looking to make money off all of us? and not actually care about the ghost rider comics? there is no way they can fix any of this new series so that it ties into the kale/ketch rider (least not do it so it makes sense and do it good) simply because THE KALE/KETCH RIDER FINALLY GOT FINISHED, IT TOOK THEM 9 YEARS TO FINALLY FINISH IT. how can they go on to make a new gr series when the oen before never even got a chance to finish before it was canceled? and how can you just take it ? itd be like if in the bible the part where jesus is about to die on the cross, the bible got canceled. and then years later they try n start a new bible, missing everything that should have happened after it was canceled. and that was just an example, im not into religion. just in cause you were going to comment about that in some way like "what does religion or jesus or the bible have to do with ghost rider", it doesnt its just an example.

the 90's series got canceled was because at the time marvel needed to cut a bunch of books for financial reasons and honestly the jumpsuit ghost rider just wasnt doing it. maybe if they had Javier working on the comic a few months beforehand marvel might have decided to let it stay.

yea but still, the series only had one issue left to put out. for them to take 9 years to finally print it is ridiculous, and its outrageous because the only reason is because of the movie coming out. if there wasnt a movie that issue would still not have been released.

well what about all this "back in black" nonsence for spiderman these days? thats 100% promotional stuff for the movie!

it prob is. i wouldnt know b/c ive been out of comics for a long time.whats been going on in the main marvelverse with the civil war series and other stuff has turned me off to getting back into comics again. i thought when they had the ghost rider series that id have a reason to come back, and after seeing how they handled it made me not want to get back in anything current going on in marvel. the only comics ive been lookn for are the old ones.
