The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Chanes of this beating SM2 Quality wise?

Could this really potentially top SM2?

  • Yes, this has a good chance of doing so.

  • Not sure

  • No, I don't think this film has a chance of de-throning SM2

Spider-Man 2 is generally considered the best Spidey film yet. Taking into account all you have seen, what the chances this will be considered better by the fan community and the GA?

I think it has an uphill battle already considering how splitted the fanbase is to this reboot series.

For me personally, I don't doubt that this has the chance to end up being my favourite Spidey film, seeing as ASM is my favourite right now and this one seems to improve things. But I think it's far too early to tell with not even a finished trailer out yet.

I personally feel SM2 is overrated but i think there will be some bias people who wouldn't accept anything better then SM2 in this reboot

because of that i think there will always be a split of sorts

If TASM beat SM1 on this site could TASM2 beat SM2?

This part of the forums dedicated to TASM? That's pretty understandable. I'm talking about the general CBM fanbase though.

Main Page of Shh!
2nd best reboot (1st was obviously Begins)

In fairness several hundred voted. That's the most I've seen vote on a thread here.

There haven't been many CBM reboots yet though, have there?

Anyway, I think it's pretty much 50/50 of who prefer this over Raimi's films. I sure do and everyone I've talked to about it IRL do as well, but on the Internet I see lots of people bashing ASM and stating they prefer Raimi's films. So I'm not sure the general CBM fans prefer ASM over SM1. I honestly think it's pretty even, tilting more towards Raimi's favour.

I liked spider-man 2 solely because of the action, i can't remember anything else from it. Marc Webb and TASM got it right in terms of script, characters, and development, but in my opinion the fight scenes where the weak link. So if the action in TASM 2 is anywhere as good and memorable as they where in spider-man 2 than it will automatically be my favorite. With that being said I don't go into any movie with high expectations, if I enjoy it then it is good to me. If TASM 2 is along the same lines as the first it will be good to me, period!

I see every CBM get a bashing here, especially on a versus thread even the most beloved like TA and TDK.

The only way we can prove which is liked more is a static.

I say yes. Just alone because of the fact that this Spider-Man makes me laugh.

I have a feeling that, despite the rather stereotypical and goofy look of Max Dillon pre-Electro, I think Electro has a chance of being the most exciting Spider-Man movie villain yet from what I've seen and heard.

The way Shh ranked the reboots (not my personal rankings)
Batman Begins
The Amazing Spider-Man
Man Of Steel
Dredd
The Incredible Hulk

Ah, I forgot about those other ones. I've yet to see Dredd, I've heard it's very good.

This.

Lets hope. The villain can make or break a film, but Jamie is a good character actor so i hope it works.

Too early to decide. However, if I had to make an early prediction I'd say no chance. SM2 was one of the best CBM experiences for me. Saw it when I was 12 and it was just one of those movies that gave you goosebumps leaving the theatre begging to know what happens next. Don't think any other movie has given me that same feeling.

Not The Dark Knight??

I think it has a chance. But I can't say that it will. Of course, I think TASM was a higher quality film than SM2. But that's just me. There's always room for improvement. We'll see what critics, the box office, etc. tell us. Then, fans will have their (often predetermined) opinions. The important thing is whether, you, the individual, liked it or not and can present your thoughts on its quality in an intelligent, logical manner.

for me SM2 is worth watching for the action scenes and doc ock, anything else... meh!

Who or what will decide that?

My prediction: TASM2 sgonna be the best Spider-man movie.
Raimi's trilogy will never be great movies for simple reason that(for me) Spidey without quips is not Spidey.

I doubt it's going to top SM-2 based on everything I've seen and heard. I think it will be very good, better than TASM, but I think SM-2 will still be wearing the best Spidey movie crown.

I agree. Hopefully they improve the action in this film, because the first film's action scenes were just ok, at best.

As for Spider-Man 2, I used to love the whole thing, but over the years I also mainly just like the action scenes. I still skip over that ridiculous and hammy speech by Aunt May about there being a hero inside all of us.

Just comparing Spider-Man films and not other comic films(comparing all of them, Spider-Man 2 isn't near the top as it used to be when it was first released), I think TASM2 might have a shot at beating Spider-Man 2. Just depends on the action and the overall story.

I've seen people say that SM2 is considered near the quality of TDK. Critically that is true but the fan community and GA do not.

My favorite part of Spider-man 2 will always be the "Raindrops are Falling on my Head" scene. It's campy and makes for jarring contrasts in the tone of the film, but that's part of why I like it. I LIKE campy things.
