I noticed Spider-Man 2 being bashed a lot on the message boards, I wonder why..

Nothing to do with the new flick. I've always felt like that. Saw all Raimi Spidey films at the cinema, loved them all. Then watching them again on DVD found them SO wanting. It's like the euphoria evaporated and started to see them as not just spidey films. For me, they're poor films overall, but I still think spidey 1 is the better of the Raimi films.

I still hear people saying they don't like the way the movie was done and such. I still stand by my belief that it is the best superhero film yet. All opinions though so its cool :)

Respect this post. It's all opinion. I'm glad people enjoyed the Raimi films. They just weren't for me (and a few others). But it's all opinion.

I had someone on here, after me saying they spidey2 was not a well made film IMO, telling me they respect my opinion, but that it was a well made film. Wow, respect my opinion, then basically slam it down lol.

But whatever, we all have different opinions.

^ You just didn't like S-M2 did you. lol

About the topic... I liked the old trilogy, but here's the thing... as a Batman fan I got B'89, BB, TDK, which are far from perfect but they're still a take on the character that I really enjoy (not to mention, they're my favorite comic-book movies).

As a Spider-Man fan... I just never considered Raimi's trilogy to be the definitive take on my hero. I do like them, but I'm hoping Webb will be able to do better.

So yeah, imho S-M2 can be beaten.

In the end you can't "prove" a movie was good or bad. If you enjoy it, great! That's what the movie was for (other than business lol). I love the Raimi trilogy, and I have high hopes for the new movie! :)

Yup, in the end it's all opinion and criticism, warranted on both sides. No film is ever perfect and there will always be things people won't like. Just gotta sit back and enjoy what's given to us.

I rank superhero films in this order:

1) The Dark Knight
2) The Avengers
3) Batman Begins
4) Iron Man
5) X-Men: First Class
6) X-Men 2
7) Spider-Man 2
8) Spider-Man

9) Thor
10) Batman '89 (haven't watched that one in ages though)
Wait, I'm sure last time you said you watched SM1 & SM2 you rated them 7.5 & 7/10 respectively, how come SM2 ranks higher than SM1?

Since some made their lists, I'll throw mine:
1) Batman 89
2)The Dark Knight
3) Batman Begins
4) The Incredible Hulk
5) The Avengers
6) Iron Man
7) X-Men 2
8) X-Men First Class
9) Superman (1978)
10) DareDevil (2003), the Director's Cut

I never saw the Daredevil Director's cut, how is that in comparison to the theatrical version?

Well said!

I've heard the DC of Daredevil is leaps and bounds above the theatrical cut. But I haven't seen it myself.

The Director's Cut of Daredevil is incredible. It last 30 minutes longer than the theatrical version, and those 30 min. adds a whole new dimension to the Daredevil character and motivations.

I just can't believe how the movie could have existed without it :D

Now I am really interested in seeing this. I might buy the blu ray now!

It is indeed much better. I felt I was watching a new movie.
It doesn't just add 30 minutes, it changes some scenes too and put some sense into other scenes.

It's the cut that should have gone to the theaters.

Now if they can release a Daredevil director's cut, why not a Spider-man 3 one? oh well.

I am probably just going to get that Marvel 3 pack blu ray (FF, FF rise of silver surfer/daredevil director's cut)

I haven't seen anything from it that indicates it will flop, unless by some unholy miracle it gets swallowed up by competition.

I think mine would be...

(after thinking about it for a while):

1.) A tie between The Dark Knight and Batman Begins (making my list will be more simple if I include ties)
2.) Watchmen
3.) A tie between '89 Batman and The Crow
4.) The Avengers
5.) V For Vendetta
6.) X-Men: First Class
7.) Iron Man
8.) Captain America: The First Avenger
9.) Thor
10.) A tie between Spider-Man 2 and The Incredible Hulk

That bashing you see for Spider-Man 2 is Webb fans that like to bash everything about Raimi's trilogy even one of the greatest CBMs of all time.

I noticed ASM being bashed on message boards for the last 2 years. i wonder why and from whom. just saying.

My personal Top 10 would be:

The Dark Knight
The Avengers
Spider-Man 2
Iron Man
X-Men 2
Punisher (2004)
Batman Begins
Daredevil Director's Cut
V for Vendetta
Spider-Man

Although I liked Captain America and First Class, they weren't anything special, to me.

One person can mention about people bashing one of Raimi's films and someone will always show up just to "make it even" by mentioning how the reboot gets bashed as well :whatever:

No question that it should have. Daredevil: DC is one of my favorite comic book movies. It is a completely different film. Even the fights are better.

The Director's Cut is actually the original cut of the film, not a normal extended cut. Fox went and re-edited the film afterwards. There a couple of scenes in the theatrical version that aren't in the DC. Those were done in reshoots after the DC was already completed.

I liked Captain America a lot, but the problem it had for me was that it felt like a trailer for the Avengers Movie. Otherwise, I liked it a lot.

Iron Man 2 and Captain America were basically trailers for the Avengers. I heard the same for Thor, though I never saw it. Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk were best IMO because they felt like their own movies, yet they fit in perfectly in the Avengers movie/Marvel Film universe and blend in.

You couldn't really do Captain America without involving S.H.I.E.L.D. in some way though, so the tie-ins were necessary and the film worked. Iron Man 2 , however, tried to bring in plots for a future Avenger movie by using Fury more, bringing in Black Widow and yadda yadda while the film itself already had too much story with War Machine and Vanko/Hammer. They tried to tie both in by having Vanko's dad helping Tony's dad back in the day for S.H.I.E.L.D. but it wasn't enough to work out.

The Incredible Hulk tied into everything great because it did so subtly. The formula that Banner was working on was the super soldier serum (Captain America reference) but it wasn't thrown in your face.

It just felt like Captain America was made the last minute, and they rushed through his WW2 victories with a montage just so it can catch up to the Avengers. I still liked it a lot, and it was fun.

I think they just ended up being so close to making The Avengers that they started throwing a lot of things in that really stood out and distracted from the main heroes. The closer it was to May 4, 2012, the more it was apparent that this was happening.

You have a good point with TIH and the mention of the super soldier serum. I never really caught that as a Captain America reference until it was made pretty clear.
