Chapter 24 - "Four Months Later" - Discussion Thread 9/24/07

Detailed? Not even close- if this guy even worked locally chances are VERY LIKELY that he would have an imdb page by now.

You don't have to be TV or Hollywood level to have a page on imdb detailing projects that you have worked on.

So, nope- still don't show any respect for the guy... if you show even a tad more information for me to see if this guy is past youtube and is actually out there- hell even if he mentions a companies name he worked for, just local, then he'd be similarly be at the local level.

But, Hollywood? Not even close.

Srry Luda, but there's no way in hell you can get me to change my mind about the guy until you provide any notable credits to back up his name or any actual information outside of the guy's blog to show if he's youtube, local, tv or what not...

Fogel, its not about his legitamicy as a writer, we can both agree he's a failure at life and he doesnt have an imdb page cause he doesnt have that SAG or WAG card he's moaning about that registers you officially (not anyone can sign up on imdb). As I clearly stated earlier if you read his blogs it explains that. The fact that he moans and rips people within his industry is probably why he doenst go into much detail either.

I buy a little of what he says because it goes into sometimes scarily accurate detail about the struggles of script and movie development. You know I do hope your not feeling insecure about his beat down on Heroes and wanna dismiss him. My point is less do with who he is as a person but his feelings that other "fans" are sharing. I just think its intresting and makes me wonder if this show is going the way of loss. Watching last night's show it really did awfully underwhelming and the new characters seemed pointless.
The biggest mistake this show can do is add more Heroes constantly and develop none of them, which I fear they may do. But we should revisit this around Februrary or something.

1. I don't have a SAG or WAG card, I'm just a 19 year old guy who worked with a small town film studio and I have one. That's why it hits me as being very very odd that he doesn't have one.

2. Dismissed him because of mainly him not having an imdb page, not due to opinions. Checked to see if he was someone who was a part of a film or show I watched at some point or another- because there are actually major creditable writers and directors, etc. that do have blogs. I still find him not having an imdb page to be odd, if I have one- why the fck does he not have one??? Really don't understand that.

3. And it seems 'Pet' was with MGM at some point or another, don't know if it went into production or if it was ever released though.

The following link is how and why I know this guy is out there- to what level is still unknown though...

Well like I said in the post above he might be hiding himself so he can bytch about his job and people in the industry without being outed. I mean dude is funny but bitter as hell. In an industry that sucks off each other, its rare you find someone throwing a fellow writer under the bus like Slater did with Kring..

Could be the case, because him not having an imdb page seriously confuses me... because if I have one, I don't think it's that hard to get one.

His stuff hatertastic though. I'm so posting all his Heros reviews this season. And for the record I'm not a Hero hater., I watch and have the DVD....but damn if it aint the most overrated show on TV next to 24.

This made me laugh:

I watch Heroes because I hate it so much.

I know that doesn't make much sense, but I'm done defending myself. It's the funniest comedy on TV, albeit an unintentional one, and tonight the monkeys were truly in fine phuckheaded form.

I'm endlessly fascinated by the fact that series "creator" Tim Kring is far and away the least talented person on the entire writing staff. His episodes always seem to ooze clunky exposition, thuddingly obvious dramatic beats, and some of the very worst dialog on primetime television. Listen to Flying Emo *****e's stirring "robots and aliens" analogy in Monday's episode and marvel at the way his dialog rolls off the actor's tongue with all the grace of an Emperor Penguin getting kicked down a flight of stairs.

It's hard to imagine how depressing it must be to be a member of that writing staff, knowing that Kring will swoop down like some demented starving vulture to call dibs on the most important episodes of every season, including the premieres and finales. It must be like trying to plan a classy wedding, knowing full in advance that your ****-up of a groom will get too drunk the night before and fill Aunt Marge's lap with vomit halfway through the ceremony. Why even bother?

Some of the highlights from the episode, in no particular order:

--The fact that new character Conveniently White Samurai is so obviously modeled after Captain Jack Sparrow that they even throw in an obligatory scene where a woman slaps him halfway around and he delivers a wisecrack directly into the camera. This is what Tim Kring calls a homage and the rest of the world calls HOLY **** THEFT THEFT THEFT.

--I mentioned the aliens and robots speech, right? It's too bad the writers were forced to cut the following scene, where Super Zac Effron walks across the football field, pumping his fist in the air to the tune of Simple Mind's "Don't You Forget About Me."

--I love the fact that Sulu was apparently killed by a J.C. Penny's fall catalog model. "Each jacket comes custom fitted with comfortable downy lining, a stylish removable hood, and the burning desire to harm aging homosexual icons of science-fiction."

--Between the Snidely Whiplash copy shop manager and the Stock *****y Cheerleader Who Always Bullies The New Girl On The First Day of School, it quickly becomes obvious that Kring's only source of insight into the sort of problems that normal (non-Hollywood-writer) Americans face must have been a steady diet of Saved By The Bell reruns.

--Th' foine, foine accents them foreign laddies were sportin' durin' th' foinal scene o' th' episode. Why, ev'ry day's a luverly day wif yoo, Mary Poppins!

--The fact that Matt Parkman aces his police test by SHOOTING A BAD GUY WHO WASN'T EVEN HOLDING A GUN AT THE TIME. I understand that Kring might have limited insights on small town Americana, but seriously, what the phuck? Didn't he used to write a show about a lawyer? Wouldn't that make him at least tangentially aware that this is something you're not supposed to do?

--Nathan Petrelli's hilarious Ron Burgundy beard. Milk was a bad choice indeed, Nathan.

Sigh. It's going to be a long, long season.

On the plus side, it's always nice to see Stephen Tobolowsky show up. WERNER BRANDES 4EVA.

...ok.

I dunno, I think the guy who killed Hiro's dad is the same boogyman that Molly sees watching her. It's going to be somebody we haven't met yet. :)

Same here, I doubt it's someone that was already shown.

In terms of Peter...
I feel that he was destroyed when he exploded and then was 're-born' using Claire's powers. That would explain his lack of memory and his re-active use of his power.

That's more than likely the case . (I wonder How Long are they going to play this out for thought .)

What speculation is going on about that spanish women's power? I don't feel like looking back. Also where did Peter get the electric power?

She would seem to unleash some sort of disease or virus if her brother isn't in proximity to her.

And we will all have to wait to find out how Peter got that power. Hmm, it would be amusing if one of the guys that opened the box car had that power and Peter just immediately absorbed it.

It could've just been a coincidence that her power was unleashed when her brother wasn't around. Maybe things got a bit too rough in the truck and she attacked everyone.

I think it was a good episode because it sorta outlines where this season is going to go, but since it's mostly exposition you can really skip over it if you're ever going to rewatch the season on DVD or something. You skip from character to character to see where they're at after four months. Some of these developements I liked, some I down right hated. I liked where Claire's family is at right now, I hate that they divorced Matt Parkman. Masi Oka is just adorable as all hell and I get a big smile whenever I see him. I liked his interaction with Kenzei... who happens to be british.

Correction, who happens to be an american that is acting british, and he is the fakest damn brit I've ever had the unpleasure :) of seeing on the TV. He has this way about him, of pulling back his facial muscles in order to have that british accent and kind of wiggles his head when he talks. Dude, seriously... this is Heroes. If I can believe a guy can fly and another guy can chop off brains and get superpowers, I can believe that an englishman got to Japan and changed his accent. It's not that big of a deal.

We also get to see new heroes, but what would've made this episode a whole lot better is if we would've got to see Nathan's Mom and Hiro's Dad manifesting their powers. I was really looking forward to that but it didn't happen. Also, where's Nikki? She wasn't featured.

Now, something I really didn't like is the introduction of Claire's new romantic interest, West. Everything about those scenes was so awkward and weird and uncomfortable. The kid has a way about him. At first he almost runs Claire over, then he asks her if she's an "alien" or a "robot", keeps his creepy eye on her and then follows her home and stares at her through her window.

HELLO!??!? This is a *****in stalker! I hate how MALE writers have this insane notion that stalking is cool, or interesting, or romantic. Stalking is neither of those things. IT'S *****ING CREEPY! Oh look, he's gazing at her in the privacy of her own room. Isn't that cute? But it's WROOONG!

Other than that twas a mighty fine episode, but did this show actually get nominated for an Emmy?

And why am i the only one conviced that the guy who killed Hiro's dad was Sylar!?

How would someone [blackout]with electric powers[/blackout] survive a fall from that high up and get a way so quickly?

Maybe electric powers arent her only specialty? Who knows, we only saw Sulu's dead body right?

Please spare us your TRIPE CRAP and do not watch and if you just have to watch keep your posts which are full of wah wah wah to yourself.

Seriously what kind of complete loser has to watch a show they do not like just to post this kind of crap on a board where 90% + think its a well done show?
Do you do it just for attention? what seriously why just to piss people who like the show off? because last time I checked the board rules posting just to piss off other posters was against the forum rules.

Actually he was pointing out that he thought this post was funny, not necessarily that he agrees with it. but i agree with your sentiments about the original poster. If you dont like the show why watch it?

Nate read the post after it (and the subsequent posts after it) It wasnt me who wrote that it was a link. lol@ people on both sides getting emotional over a TV Show

I think Peter got his electrical power from the Irish guy who found him. He seemed like someone in authority even if it's just a gang. That's my feeling. The guy didn't seem "that" surprised to see the electricity. Just my feeling.

Lets keep in mind that those people were expecting to find a bunch of ipods in there, it sounds like people are reading way too much into those people

The more important question is... WHO GAVE PETER A HAIRCUT!!?!?!

:)

Actually yea in an odd way that is more of an important question, the fact that his hair is cut short like that and he is handcuff, leans towards he is being held captive.
