So there's a lot of talk about reboots lately, with Marvel going through with a pseudo-reboot in the coming months. This brings about the opportunity to really examine what we love the most about these characters, what makes them special. So in this thread, I'll struve to post daily, or at least close to daily, a character. You can all then propose what key elements of said character must be retained in a thoretical reboot, and what things could be "fixed" or done away with. This is a unique opportunity to come and discuss what makes a character special to you, and how you would like to see them changed.

To begin, let's open the floodgates with
latest
Captain America
(Steve Rogers)

He's the quintessential Avenger and should remain heroic, he doesn't just represent America, he represents the idealistic patriot who does the best for what his country represents and his friends, which means he will not agree with everyhing his government does.

His Ultimate counterpart was an interesting take, as that is what a major soldier who came right from WWII would be like: Cocky, arrogant but confident.

However, i feel like that works better in an alternative unvierse than in the mainstream one, the film nailed it perfectly, but i wouldn't mind it if they made him grumpier like in the old 616 universe.
