but they do earn those things, by putting on good matches. It's a fact that when you hold the belt, you get a bonus in your pay. Same thing if you headline ppvs. You get to hold a belt and headline a ppv by putting on good matches, or getting "over" with the crowd in other ways.

Shawn Michaels in his book said it best.

"When you first win the championship it sinks in that you are the best. That they have enough confidence in you to lead a company, to lead a lockeroom, and to be the poster boy of this company. Yes, wrestling is scripted and the outcome is already decided beforehand, but winning your first championship is very real."

:whatever:

You do realize that regardless of what you say "is fake" that falling from such a height is a great risk, right? You do realize that even if the table broke his fall it still hurt like a *****.

The cage incident where Mick fell through wasn't planned at all. But due to the Undertaker's weight and Mick's weight the cage gave away, along with the chair landing on Mick's face creating a massive gash under his lip.

guess you didn't read about the accidents i was talking about....:whatever:

mods should MERGE this is thread with "someone in this room...is a murderer"

Paris is being released later today and what are you talking about? OJ never did anything.

dont kid yourself, OJ killed those people...if it wasnt for Mark Ferman being a huge racist and planting evidence that they didnt even need to get the conviction, and the fact that OJ had money to hire the best team of lawyers ever assembled, he's be in jail right now.

good acting and money to buy excellent lawyers... same "talent" paris hilton used to get a night out of jail... only she didn't get away with it.

it wasn't about acting, it was about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.:o

Yet, you never did think that his wife could've done it right? A friend of mine just sent me an IM saying that another theory is Nancy killed Daniel, then Chris killed her, and then killed himself.

Theories are running wild at the moment. None of them are 100% at all.

that sounds a bit soap operaish (not saying it couldn't of happened) but ... that kinda thing is a rarity, because very rarily do mothers kill there children compared to killing there husbands

I want to have like, a million of Shawn Michaels babies, for various reasons...too bad it's phsyically impossible...oh well, I'll settle for his wife :o

Exactly. But how exactly do you fake a fall? How exactly do you fake falling on REAL thumbtacks? How do you fake sometimes being hit in the face with a chair?

Seriously, I'm beginning to wonder if you're educated at all when it comes to wrestling. No one is saying it's real and that the outcomes aren't decided. It is basically acting in its purest form. But to not respect what they do is an insult to them and the profession.

Just so you know, it takes a ****load of training to be able to get into professional wrestling.

Accidents do happen, but I found a new respect for them when I see the amount of training they have to do in order to become a professional wrestler. I always had respect for those men and women who risk their lives basically wanting to entertain fans.

You say it's not a sport? I like you to walk up to Bret Hart, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, John Cena, Steve Austin, The Rock, Edge, and say what you said with a straight face. You remind me of that reporter who interviewed Edge and tried to mock him saying "We all know wrestling is fake. Sorry guys."

Edge owned her in brilliant fashion "Well, you know this "fake" sport gave me a broken neck."

The man was thrown, 15 feet down, through the chain link cage (which was not supposed to break) onto thumb tacks, bit a hole through his bottom lip big enough to fit his tounge through, and you're saying it's not real? People like you are why wrestling fans always seem full of hate towards non-wrestling fans, because you're just so incredibly ignorant. I dont want to pull a David Arquett in that s**ty wrestling movie he was in, but when you have a guy like Kurt Angle saying that pro-wrestling is every bit as grueling and requires every bit as much athletecism as amateur/olympic mat wrestling does, you need to give it it's f**king props.

can wrestling fan's not read or something? :whatever: everyone seems to miss where i said "accidents do happen"

I don't kid myself ever. Let alone say a man is guilty when a court of law says otherwise. I know damn well he did it. But I wanted someone to prove it.

Apples and oranges. It's not proven that Benoit did what he's being accused of.

And who supports OJ? Last I checked people are pretty disgusted with him, but they recognize his accomplishments as a once great professional football player who deserves to be recognized as such. But as a person? Who knows.

many did at the time is my point.. and im sure a few still do now. took a few years for many of the supporters to change there minds

Regardless of the accidents, getting slammed, chopped, put into submission holds (the same ones that are used in mat wrestling) still hurts like a b**ch. You keep focusing on one argument here, that isnt really even an argument as everyone agrees that things can go wrong. But even when things go right, it hurts like a b**ch.

they happen because the actual fight usually isn't scripted. Sure, they give each other cues, but alot of it is improvised.

I can only imagine what its like at WWE forums right now.

So by your logic we shouldn't get into movies or respect actors, actresses, or stunt men? Seeing as it's all part of the show and that actors and actresses shouldn't win oscars because the film is nothing more than a fiction. :whatever:

again... you miss my point.

wrestlers get the same respect as actors, acrobats, and stuntment.. there performers. yes they have to be strong and fit to do what they do (as do actors) but they dont get respect for "winning" there matches or "earning" there titles, thats like respecting Stallone for winning his matches in rocky...

That's totally legit

once again, they do earn there titles and wins and pushes and what spot on the card they get by putting on entertaining matches and cutting good promos...so you're saying that you respect them for what they do, but the awards they get in the buisness for doing what you admit is the main focus of there job arent real

For all of you hating on the Benoit fans, you have to understand what Benoit meant to his fans.

Benoit was not The Rock or Hulk Hogan; he wasn't 6'6". He was only 5'11", he was kind of ugly, and not very charismatic. He was told through out his career that he would fail, because so much of wrestling is trash talking.

Benoit busted his ass for 22 years, and never gave it less than 100%. When I was younger, he gave people like me a hero to believe in. Someone who busted their ass, and overcame adversity to reach the pinnacle of their field. He was a technical master, and that was enough. He wasn't hip, he wasn't cool, he was just the best.

Put John Lennon in the same situation; if he'd pulled a murder suicide, would his music not still be worthy of respect? If Tiger Woods shot his woman, and threw his baby in the river, would he cease to be the most talented golfer ever?

I'm not approving of what Benoit did. I'm hurt, and apalled. At the same time, Benoit was a hero to me, and though he may not have really been the man I thought he was, the fact that he carried himself that way, and I believed in him, and millions of fans believed in him says something.

As of Thursday, Benoit was not a murderer. That's what we're celebrating. Where he was for the first 40 years of his life, not the last 3 days.

As for those of you dissing on wrestling as an occupation, I could give a ****. What does the opinion of a bunch of 13 year old pimpled dickweeds mean to me in any area other than comic books. The fact is, you should love wrestling, since pro-wrestlers are the closest the world has to real super heroes.

If my comments offend you, well...too bad. That's how I feel.

the fact you call it a "match" and holding a belt.. i'ts scripted NOT REAL the MATCH is not real.. the accidents are though... wrestling fans seem to confuse the two. "winning" a match or a belt is nothing more then a promotion, and of course you'd get paid more you have a bigger fanbase and are more marketable..

Life is stranger than fiction.

This thread rocks even more than the silly "who killed Paris" thread, lol.

Yeah, you know what? For it to not be real we sure see a lot of wrestlers make replicas of the past championships they've won and chronicle their highlights throughout their career.

Yeah, apparently those awards and the respect isn't real. :whatever:

I swear Joker, some people really don't want to educate themselves. Spider, if you want to see how "real" professional wrestling is. I recommend you go to Chris Jericho's Message Forum and look at the timeline he made that chronicles his time in Japan, his time in Canada, his time in ECW, his time in WCW, and his time in the WWE.

He created a list of all the title's he's won and the accomplishments he earned. They deserve their respect and if the titles weren't "real" then they wouldn't acknowledge them the way they do.

Yes lets ignore the last three days of his life where he destroyed everything that was or should have been truly important to him. Yeah, what a hero.

He calls it a match because that's what it is, regardless of whether it's ending is scripted. The point is it's entertaining.
