I saw the news on FOX. Motive does seem like the next determinable step- it's sort of drastic for a man with no record of mental impairment or drug usage to methodically kill two people, then himself, and all along the way stave off suspicions on the matter.

Chris Benoit smothered his child, Strangled Nancy. Then hung himself.

The friends at WWE tried to contact him and he texted them back saying everything was ok.

Friends were getting weirded out text messages thats what prompted them to send the cops in the first place.

My gut feeling is that steriods were involved. This sounds like "roid rage".

It's still a tragedy in every way. We don't know what happened or what type of mental state Chris was in. While he probably shouldn't be honored in certain fashions, there's still room to grieve for this tragic incident.

Also, a martyr is someone who dies for a cause or is made to look that way. The use of the word martyr in this situation is very incorrect, even before we found it was him. Let's not try to use big words when we don't use them correctly.

I'm sickened. It's just disgusting. WHAT IS WITH HUSBANDS RIGHT NOW? First the Stebic case here in the Plainfield, IL area (wife missing, husband probably best suspect - sister-in-law is friend of the family,) then the cop in Ohio killing his lady, and the dude who claimed his wife killed the kids, shot him in the leg and offed herself. Now this? I've been with my wife for 9 years (married for 3) and have a daughter, and I couldn't even imagine being provoked to such a level of doing something so horrendous. There isn't a scenario on earth that could even begin to make me ponder something like that.

I'm not a fan of the "Divorce Culture" but I'm less a fan of the "Murder Your Spouse Culture."

I met Chris Benoit once was a nice guy even said hello to me. I feel sorry for his child and wife the most, but I also feel sorry for Chris. Sounds like he needed serious help I work in a hospital remember and its not unusual for me to have nervous breakdowns or depression. Chris was a great wrestler I loved him in WCW and in the WWF (yes I am old school I hate saying WWE.)

Hopefully if anyone on here is down or sad they will contact there family, friends, or doctors to get help and not resort to what Chris did. Do we know that he 100% did this crime no, but it is looking like he did. I hope that his family is reunited and he is forgiven for this horrible crime, something just doesnt jell regarding it.

That's the most common sense to have come out of this thread since the rumors started.

Oh yeah, you're right, jack-offs never get shows on television. The dude steals material from blogs plain and simple. He's stolen from With Leather and he's stolen from a U of Michigan blog. Just because a guy has figured out a way to get a radio show, even on ESPN, it doesn't mean he is good at anything more than stirring the pot. That doesn't make you talented. ESPN puts Jay Mariotti on too, and he's an utter moron. They've had Joe Theismann on Monday Night Football forever, and he can barely put complete sentences together. Jim Rome has yet to make a single valid point other than proving that he says "phenomenal" better than any other human being, and he continues to get shots, but somehow Cowherd has value because he gets three hours on the radio in a time-slot that is largely NOT listened to!?!? The morning drive, and the afternoon drive are the hot spots, along with midday running a close third. 9-Noon is filler.

I was ALMOST going to agree with you but after the second sentence it all went away. NO KIDDING jerk-offs get TV shows. Howard Stern set (lowered ?) the standard for that sort of media behavior. But it DOES take a talented person to do a daily show, I don't care how much you dislike them. And then your point became less & less valid when you brought out the "easy" punching bags like Mariotti or Theismann or Jim Rome. Sad. You're basically lumping completely different broadcasters together because you disagree with their contraversial approach to sports journalism.

Jim Rome is a pot-stirrer if there ever was one, but he makes valid points on a near-daily basis. Theismann carried MNF this year whether his haters would ever admit it or not (they won't). And FYI, you want to hear "filler" radio, listen to ESPN Radio from 10pm-3am.
