Chris Benoit Dead

this is astonishing, everyone was saying he was one of the sweetest family men they had ever met, now he is supposidly murdering is family and killing himself. madness.

Yeah, he always came off as a real decent guy. If somebody told me that a wrestler had killed himself and his family but didn't say who, Benoit may have been the last one I'd have guessed.

Jesus, this gets more effed up by the minute. And to think they had that long sappy tribute about the guy on Raw the other night, where everyone was feeling bad for him. Then we really find out what he did to his family.

Burn in hell Benoit, you coward.

They were his friends, they still have a right to be sad about this.

I feel for the boy and wife, thats where my heart is, screw Benoit, i'm sorry I can't feel anything for him

Same here.

The details of it make it even more disgusting.

lol, you guys are making it sound like he was secretly a sociopath. Anyone with any serious mental illness would've been capable of doing the same. It's a tragedy for him as well, because I imagine he really did love his wife and son.

Man, how long before Law and Order makes an episode about this?

It will air during fall sweeps.

Chevy Chase was in the "Mel Gibson story" last season as a drunk fading celebrity whose son was the actual killer of a Jewish woman.

They did one based on how a teen stopped taking her meds because her favourite celebrity, a rockstar, said no one should take them and she killed someone (Tom Cruise's rant about antidepressants) then I could see some adaptation of a wrestler and his family.

If there is a next world, i doubt peace will be on the agenda for Mr benoit.

anyway, the question i have is this:
On paper, at least, pro wrestling is *supposed* to be steroid free, right?
well, if (and i fully accept its a big if) it turns out to have been roid rage, and he was on drugs, doesnt it rather taint the man he was, as well?

I seriously doubt it was "roid rage". I'm sure the roid witch hunt fans will use it to further their agenda, but the reality is that mental illness is what brings someone to do something so horrific. Not steroids. If steroids really did cause this sort of thing to happen, it would be a much, much more frequent occurrence. And that's coming from someone who abhors the use of steroids altogether, from a personal perspective.

Exactly, he always seemed so happy and thankful.
this boggles my mind

Did you see that 4 years ago there was a restraining order after threats of destroying everything in the house by Benoit and wanted a divorce. Couple of months later, Nancy withdrew the divorce and then 8 months later they're at MSG in the ring.

You don't love someone if you have the capacity to kill them in cold blood.

I'm not making it sound like he's 'secretly" anything. The guy tied up his wife and choked her to death and then suffocated his own kid and then took the 'easy way out" by hanging himself rather than face the consequences of what he did. You're right, anyone is capable of doing that, however most all of us dont. The few that do cross that line dont have my sympathy, whether they're mentally ill or not. if he did love his family he sure had a freaking funny wya of showing it.

It's real easy to sit on the high horse.

even so, (and i dont know much about such things), if he does turn out to have been on steroids, in an industry that was *supposed* to be clean, the question still stands, does it not?

You know, I'm very disgusted at how some of the morons on this forum are making and sporting Benoit avatars, glamorizing and worshipping an evil man who would kill his own family. :o

Oh, you're so intelligent Will. You think using big words and trying to paint yourself as some uber intelligent poster makes you special? Who says we're honoring his personal life? Who says we're honoring a murderer? We're honoring his accomplishments in the career of professional wrestling.

He was a great wrestler with great talent and was very passionate in the craft. Am I disgusted? Yes. If it's proven he did kill his wife and son I will not look at him in the same light as I once did, but it does not make me dismiss his accomplishments as one of the greatest, if not, the greatest professional wrestler I had ever seen.

So just because he did the unthinkable we should just automatically ignore what he did in the ring? Are we supposed to ignore OJ's accomplishments? Are we supposed to ignore Victor Salva? Who is a convicted child molester and has went on to make great films in Powder, Jeepers Creepers, and Peaceful Warrior?

Yes, they did or may've done some horrible deeds, but it would be wrong to ignore the great things they did in terms of entertainment.

There are MANY wrestlers on steroids...if it turns out that Benoit was taking them no one would be surprised.

After the death of Eddie Guerrero, the WWE implemented the "wellness policy." This was also a reaction to congress going after Major League Baseball, a pre-emptive measure incase Congress decided to go after other sports. However, most "smarks" know that the policy is flawed and mostly for show. After the initial surge, (ie. Kurt Angle being let go) one needs look no further than to wrestlers like Chris Masters, Bobby Lashley and Batista to see that the policy may not be working.

The truth is, it not only taints Chris Benoit, but the WWE and Vince McMahon. It brings the issue of steroids out in the open once again. During the early 1990's, there was a huge steroid scandal in the WWF. A large trial occurred where witnesses like Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon were called. WWF and Vince got off the hook, but the number of deaths linked to steroid abuse have been immense in the last decade.

ok, that does not mean he didn't love her.

I said anyone with serious mental illness could do that. I'm not talking about just anyone. Benoit was not just anyone, he was someone who was deeply disturbed obviously. Way to paint things in black and white.

At least we still have Lion King
amen asteroid man....amen

There's more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done
There's far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round

It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life

It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life

:csad: what a beautiful song......
