Chris Cornell's 'You Know My Name' Music Video

Some news on the Casino Royale album to be released on November 13th.

Following this week's news that composer David Arnold had completed work on the score to the forthcoming James Bond film Casino Royale, the first listings are starting to appear for the Official Soundtrack CD.

The release date is reported to be 13th November 2006, just one day before the world premiere. The CD will retail for £14.99, but can be found discounted for pre-orders at Play.com (£8.95) and HMV (£8.99).

From the listings that have been published, it would appear that as with recent releases, tracks from the end of the film are missing. The last track, "The End Of An Aston Martini", is from approximately 3/4 through the film when Bond crashes his car whilst avoiding a tied-up Vesper on the rood (as seen in the theatrical trailer).

Stranger still is the omission of the title song "You Know My Name" by Chris Cornell. The singer-songwriter has been shooting the video for the title song in Los Angeles this week, but no official release date for the single has been announced.

That track listing is incorrect (Sony has released the right one in their store - though I do think it's still somewhat unofficial seeing as it lacks "You Know My Name" by Cornell). Here's the correct track listing (some track names contain spoilers, so I spoiler-guarded them):

Thanks for clearing that up.

If you guys go to Chris Cornell's site, you'll see that he has the Casino Royale theme song, You Know My Name. Only difference is, well, it sounds different from the version we already heard.

It's a fairly different version of the song (odds are it's the final one) - much moodier, much more orchestra. I don't like it as much; it loses energy and his vocals are less energetic.

How is it different? It sounds the same to me except some sounds are more audible since it's a higher quality file.

The vocals are different. Trust me.

Here's a pretty cool fan music video for Casino Royale.

What version of the song are you listening to? I'm comparing this "new" one with the full one that was released weeks ago and they sound the same; the only difference is that this one is higher quality so it brings out some of the orchestra that wasn't audible in the older one.

no i think hes right... the vocals do sound a bit different at times...

and the orchestra is alot louder

And the song is several seconds shorter.

It's a totally new cut of the song. The drums are louder and different. The acoustic guitar is replaced (or drowned out) by an electric. The pacing is slightly faster and he sings some of the words differently (different pauses or words blending together that had a break between them in the old cut). You can really hear the difference in his singing during those last repeating lines. Not to mention there's a real orchestra in this cut rather than the synth orchestra in the last one.

I downloaded the old version a while back. If you listen carefully, there's a part where Cornell says, "I've seen diamonds cut through harder men." In the newer version, he says, "I've seen this diamond cut through harder men". The link you've just provided me is the older version. Listen to that first, then head to his 'myspace' and check it out for yourself.
