Documentary/Biopic Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer

Hartnett is listed in the Cast nomination, surprisingly.

That's good! I'm sad for the other guys (Clarke, Krumholtz, Conti). Not so sad for Oldman, but still think he played an important role. That scene in the White House was devastating for Oppenheimer. "Get this crybaby out of my office"

I find it amusing people are using What I've Done for those edits considering Linkin Park made an album which one of its themes comprised of nuclear annihilation and one of the tracks actually used Oppenheimer's speech.

That specific song has become a meme that gets played over the end credits of a lot of movies

Even though it's been out on disc for almost two months now, it really was something to behold in IMAX so I can see why it's still selling out.

Odd request but can someone get me a screenshot of Murphy from the gymnasium scene right before he snaps out of his trance? He has this slack-jawed look on his face that I am fascinated by.

Is it this one?

They have Casey ****ing Affleck on there over Clarke, Oldman and Krumholtz? Hell, even Alden Ehrenreich or the guy who played Einstein should be in there before him.
Casey Affleck is barely even in the movie. He's got all of what? Two scenes? Why not just nominate Josh Peck.

Not gonna lie, the 13 Oscar nominations are less of a surprise to me than the movie grossing nearly a billion dollars.

Agreed, the box office is pretty dang shocking. Biggest success of Nolan's career when you think about Oppy's production budget and subject matter compared to Batman or Inception, which also had a superstar lead actor.

The July release date for Oppy was not exactly Oscar-friendly, but the subject matter is at least Oscar-friendly enough where it's not a total shock to see a lot of nominations for it.

I feel like if it were up to Universal, they would have opted for a November/December release but it ended up paying off.

I just realized that Flower Moon didn't get an Adapted screenplay nom which I found pretty surprising. I think this positions Oppie pretty darn well in the category. Still anyone's game really, but I think it puts it a lot more in play.

looks like social media is subtly turning on Oppenheimer. “It doesn’t deserve all those noms”. “Oscar bait”.

Oh well.

It's just Film Twitter desperately trying to slow its momentum because it collectively wants another movie to win (*cough* The Holdovers *cough*). Same thing happened with EEAAO last year.

There's no slowing this train.
