The Dark Knight Rises Christopher Nolan Talks His Plans For Batman 3 & New Superman Movie

I said this in the Superman forums, but anyway....

I think what Nolan meant by "finishing their story", is finishing the story or Batman origins and establishing himself as Gotham´s rightfull protector (which we haven´t seen yet) as well as "the world´s greatest detective"; remember that Goyer quote from years back ? He said "he´s not the world´s greatest detective....yet", so, considering that TDK is still Batman "year one" so to speak, I think that´s what the 3rd one´s gonna be about.

This sounds about right.

What it means is that they are going to finish the version of Batman that they want to tell in their own way. What happens with the franchise, or what WB wants to do with it afterwards is not really a concern, nor is leaving any sort of room for anyone else to expand on what they've done. If the story only spans five years or so, so be it....that's all they feel like addressing. They can't stop anyone else from doing years 7-15 or what have you, but at the same time, they're under no obligation to make that easier to facilitate...or purposely leave any narrative avenues open to future travelers. Their only concerns are the films that they are making, and that's fine.

From Bruce's villains we got the Joker, Ras, Mr Freeze and a wheelchair bound Bane who was selling his venom to a high school gymnast.

However, most of Terry's villains were analogues of Bruce's:

- Blight ~ Dr Phosphorus
- That gymnast with the drugs ~ Bane
- Inque ~ Clayface
- Spellbinder ~ Spellbinder (different person)
- The Royal Flush Gang ~ The Royal Flush Gang (different persons)
- Ten (Royal Flush Gang member) ~ Terry's Catwoman

Btw, does anybody know if Shriek was an analogue of any of Bruce's villains?

Okay, well then I'd rather not skip straight to Batman Beyond before we've seen Bruce's Batman take on Clayface, Bane, and others. There are way too many stories to tell before we move on to the far future.

Yeah I don't get with this obsession with TDKR and then straight into Batman Beyond. Like, why do that? why skip all these great stories that could be told? that just doesn't make sense.

Best part of this...no stupid "OMFG BALE IZ GONNA BE ON SKRINE WIF SUPERMANS!!!!"

How stupid would it be to see Bale's Batman in a Justice League or Superman movie? "Say, after Lucius talks to me about the reality of my weapons Superman, how about we magically jump off into space"

I would love to see the detective side of Batman in the 3rd film, probably the most underrated and underused features of Batman himself.

IT would look like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeT1t0lQn5Q&feature=related:woot::hehe:
(I post this as a staunch and hardcore Batman fan who reads comics and knows about Batman's ability to take down super powered foes. This is just how absurd it would look if you have a JLA with Nolan's Batman)

LOTR 3 had many endings? I only saw one. What the hell?

I think some people interpret the events after Mt. Doom is destroyed, like everyone reuniting at Rivendell, Aragorn's coronation, Sam's marriage and Frodo departing Middle-earth as multiple endings.

I think that's the direction Noalnb wants to take this.
I'm guessing B3 will be a huge hunt after Bats by the GCPD, Bruce will seriously start doubting continuing his quest. At a certain point a (new) villain will be introduced pushing Batman into a corner and make Bruce decide he HAS to go on, forever. In the end he will overcome all and GCPD will have to stop actively puresuing Batman seeing that he does more good than bad....

I hope it'll show Bruce's urge to control everything by expanding the cell phone radar thing from TDK (even if it was destroyed). Maybe even launching his own sattelite, untill he discovers he's gone to far and has to go back to basics to win back the trust of the people that supported him (Alfred, Lucius, Gordon etc.)

Well, Superman would be more badass... but that's weird to think about.

Imagine Superman going ballistic at Ma Kent, leading to the police being called.

He was gunna be in a comicbook movie come hell or highwater

Bale, as much as I love him as an actor, would be an awful superman. He plays dark characters with psychological issues.

I actually am kinda against him as Batman, Bale is such a good crazy bad guy. Even in the new(ish) Shaft he was amazing as the ****head bad guy.

So, are you ok with Batman being part of the league in JLU ? Because I was watching Public Enemies, BB, TDK and old episodes of JLU this weekend, and I couldn´t understand why guys in here say Nolan´s Batman wouldn´t work with the league, BTAS/JLU´s Bats struggled to fight 2, 3 goons and would take minutes to do so; Nolan´s Bats would take on 20 guys in 5 seconds, or and entire SWAT team (beating and tying them up), pluss the Joker´s goons almost effortlessly...something I haven´t even seen comic book Batman do, also displaying outstanding strategic skills.

I honestly find this Batman much more efficient and "super" than other versions, particularly TAS one, but still people have no problem with that version hanging out with superpowered heroes and aliens.

And for the last time....there´s absolutely nothing "realistic" about Nolan´s Batman...is verosimile, just like Superman: The Movie, just like the first two X-Men movies, just like every other superhero movie should be, please people, give the word a rest.

Maybe with the TAS. but in the comics Batman's abilities range hugely based on the story and what works. I mean hell he beats up Superman in Hush and TDKR. He creates a alternate personality and witches a cup in the blink of an eye in RIP, so it really varies from story to story.

Watch Rescue Dawn, his character has a certain good heartedness and innocence that could lend very well to playing Superman I think.
