Never played the original since I think Vin Disel is balls-tastic, but I think I may pick it up since it's gotten so many good reviews and it is the spiritual sucessor to the darkness...

Dude, pick up the original!

Forget Vinnie, hell forget the movie its 'based' on. Riddick was such a badass game, it did so many cool things with the FPS genre, and while the next gen has spoiled us a bit, its graphics were some of the best ever on the XBOX. I believe it was the first game to use normal mapping, in fact. Great atmosphere, great voice-acting. The only real drawback was its short duration. Here's hoping the remake corrects that.

Hell of a game. A real sleeper gem.
