Okay so if you know me, you know I was getting excited about Christmas when it was 116 days away (that's no lie). There's actually ALOT coming for PS3 this Christmas, despite the Unreal Tournament push back. So, what be ye getting off this list?:
Big Releases - What's hot for the holidays
Army of Two- This has actually been one of my most anticipated titles so far this gen. I'm a BIG co-op fan so this is a must for me.
Haze- I've made it clear I think this game will be solid at best, I'll buy it when its cheap.
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune- This looks fantastic, I think its on pretty much every PS3 owner's list for this Christmas.
Assassin's Creed- Despite recent worries, I believe this game'll be the first true next-gen experience. Its going to rock hard.
Kane and Lynch: Dead Men- Like Army of Two, I love co-op, but these games look very similar so I'll have to make up my mind on which comes first.
Half Life 2: The Orange Box- Nearer to Christmas release for us, but its getting great reviews all round and is easily the best value for any video game ever.
Call of Duty 4- This will probably be the best FPS this holiday with Unreal Tournament out of the way, it'll clam alot of people wetting their pants for Killzone 2 aswell.
Blacksite: Area 51- I know little of this game, but it look okay, reminds me of Resistance, just prettier.
Cliver Barker's Jericho- I love the demo and I think it looks very unique and different. F.E.A.R. eat your heart out.
John Woo's Stranglehold- Solid demo, apparently a good game, though I'm thinking more when its cheap.
Folklore- Okay not so much a Christmas release, but it looks to be a solid, original game, I'll probably pick it up at some point.
Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction- A bit of platforming will be welcome to PS3, what with how many FPSs there are right now, I think it looks fantastic and will be THE next-gen platformer until either Banjoo Kazooie 3 or Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier.
Spare Change - Games out now that you've waited for
Resistance: Fall of Man- Chances are you've already got this, but its a decent game, and cheaper by the minute now.
MotorStorm- Still my favourite PS3 game. The rush you get from it is insane, buy it if you haven't.
Call of Duty 3- You probably favoured Resistance over this at launch, and have been sidetracked with other games since, but now its down in price (at least in the UK) I reckon it'll be worth a look.
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance- I haven't had the heart to dish out £40 for this yet, but I may well do soon. Its gotten solid reviews and I liked the X-men Legends games.
Heavenly Sword- God knows I don't want this game, but some of you may I guess...
The Darkness- A fantastic FPS which I've never got round to buying, but intend to do so sooner or later.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion- With over 200+ hours of enjoyable play, you can't really go wrong with this title.
F.E.A.R.- Probably the worst of the PS3 shooters, but a solid game, though I'd recommend getting the cheaper, better, PC version, where the expansion packs can be played.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas- Brilliant game. Best PS3 shooter so far. Buy it or die.
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent- Looks okay, never really got into the series myself. Enjoyed Pandora Tomorrow, but that's all I played.
Or hey if you're really up for it...
Hot PSP Games
Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadren- Apparently Battlefront 2 on PSP was okay, so a 100% PSP focused one could be quite good. Just... why only on PSP?
Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice- The first was a good game, so I'm sure this'll live up to expectations
SWAT: Target Liberty- Ripped straight out of the excedingly good Killzone: Liberation, this is bound to be a great shooter, and encourage developers to make more games like this. I'm personally hoping for a Resistance PSP game just like this.
Silent Hill: Origins- This game's got near PS2 quality graphics, and benefits from not needing that other bloody analog nub that doesn't exist. Probably PSP's killer app this Christmas.
Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow- Should be good cause... well the last one was.
Bearing in mind, I'll probably pick up Ratchet and Call of Duty 4 before Christmas, I'll probably get 3 games for Christmas, and so far, those look to be:
Uncharted
Half-Life 2: The Orange Box
Assassin's Creed
With whatever money I get leftover from Christmas I'll get Army of Two probably, then save for the BIG first quater of 08.
