Circuit City to close 69 stores

I think people like the look of a store when they prefer it over another and things cost more there...IE, people who like Best Buy.
Stuff is always more expensive at my CC here compared to BB.

I used to work for Fry's (which is only in business because they never went public). It's true. You don't win against Best Buy. They'll be the only game in town by 2015.

Word....back in the day Circuit City used to carry about every brand of high end where CC didn't once Best Buy began carrying all brands it was over.

Circuit City also did some BS restructure a couple years ago, which got rid of most of their tenured employees and tried to slide by on part timers and teenagers...

Then again I got this highly rated blu-ray player from Best Buy for $200.

it's sad to see CC going out of business. I've always prefered CC over BB for electronics. But business is getting harder and harder since big corporations like the Wal*Marts, etc... are carrying the same products or somewhat identical ones at a cheaper price and its more convenient to buy a dvd or cd while doing grocery shopping or w/e at a walmart rather then waste gas and go to a CC or BB.
Looks like im going this sunday to get some deals at CC once they put out there next ad

Anyone know when the liquidation sale starts?
I read an article on Yahoo saying that liquidation might start as early as tomorrow.... and i've tried getting the the CC site now and its "under maintenance" so im assuming were going to start to see liquidation by this weekends end

I don't think any of the deals will be good enough for me to warrant spending money.

Yeah, I can still see Best Buy having everything for cheaper.

Everything is on their site...warranties are still covered since they're backed by a third party.

Best Buy shoulda bought them out

BB doesn't need to do that, since CC just drives themselves out of business. BB now has one less competition without having to saddle with CC's debts.

I am guessing that the liquidation sale will start off kind of like the Christmas sales did...meaning...very small savings.

People will rush in as soon as they hear "liquidation sale" and the sale will only be 20-25%.

I'm not in my home town at the moment, but when I get back I'm buying a flat screen tv.

I dont know, the one in Athens already closed. But when they were having their going out of business sale, I got DVDs for $3.00 (new releases) and a sweeeeeeet Sony digital camera that retails for $300 for $97.00.

I have never even been to the Circuit City near me but I will definitely stop by there tomorrow and check out their DVD selection.

The only time I purposdly went to CC to get something is when they had the LOTR Extened Editions on sale for 8.99.

It is.

Its like Target appealing to more people than K-Mart...it looks nicer.

However, I must say...I've never walked into an ugly CC....Office Max on the other hand....

Hahaha, hopefully all this will mean less of their annoying banners on our site. :woot:

I hate those stupid rollover ads so much that I'm actually happy to see the company go out of business.

I remember when Circuit City used to be the big dog in town, but for the past 5 years or so its seems like they've continually been on a down slide. Circuit City's are so dark and shadowy with its burgundy carpet and walls and dark lighting. When you walk in a Best Buy its so bright and color it just screams "BUY STUFF" and you know what...I do.
