Claws question

It must be too long since I've read Weapon X. I always thought that the extra adamantium to his hands were just bonding to his claws, but since the Professor, Hines, etc. didn't know about his claws, they saw it as "extra flow" or whatever.

Might have to go back and re-read that . . . .

In the current continuity now that would be the explanation, but at the time Weapon X was written, it was accepted that Wolverine's claws were a by product of Weapon X, which is why I thought that was such a poor explanation for them. I mean, sure lets say some access andamantium does pool in his hands...he'd have no way to extend them! It was a very poor explanation.

You could tell that other writers didn't expect that. If you look at the Days of Future Past issue, right after Wolvie gets torched by the sentinel and his skeleton falls to the floor, you can see on his forearm he has a funky looking getup on his foream, a kind of mechanical looking contraption. Obviously they all assumed that Weapon X pureposely put the claws there, and implanted some sort of bio-mechanical device that connected to his brain and allowed him to control the claws.

However, the explanation we got didn't make any sense at all given the time, which is why I thought the bone claws actually made much more sense than what had been cannon at the time.

The Trailer of Wolverine shows that when Logan was a little boy, he had found his Father's murdered body, and his primal rage came out activating his claws. Did Wolverine have claws his whole life, and the Weapon X progam made them stronger? Cause in the X-Men movies it is shown that Weapon X implanted the claws in him. See I don't all the details of his origin.

It never showed that in any film. We saw cuts & insertions, but they never actually showed him getting the claws. Apart from Stryker's claim, there was never any indication that they did so. Plus, the comics revealed that tidbit years ago. Magneto ripped the adamantium out & Wolverine ran around using his plain old bone claws for a good 5-6 years, realtime.
