Cloak & Dagger Cloak and Dagger General Discussion

I liked the tone and backstory, but found the plot to drag in some spots over the first two eps. Off to a promising start.

Agreed I liked it enough to tune in again and give this show a chance.

Finally this on their streaming site. I lost half my cable the night it aired. Go figure...

Solid. A little slow but it is building and I do like how they are not just jumping right into it. Learn as they go.

Ratings update: Best premiere in 2 years. Highest ratings since PLL finale.

Freeform’s young-superhero drama Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger premiered with 1.64 million total viewers in Live+3, the cable net’s best series launch in two years. It also was Freeform’s most-watched drama telecast since the Pretty Little Liars finale nearly a year ago.

It also had the biggest digital bow ever for the network with 716,000 starts. The premiere drew 7.3 million views across linear and digital platforms and was Thursday’s most-social scripted series with 112,000 engagements across Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Tumblr.

Tonight is Episode Three - Stained Glass

Tandy goes on the run with Detective O'Reilly closing in. Tyrone looks for answers with help from Evita and her aunt, a voodoo priestess.

I kind of want to start a new thread for the episode, but alas.

Well, if a mod wants to finally create a forum for it, go ahead.

It was definitely the right call making the person who got shot by the police Ty's brother.

is it any good? i'm thinking I'll wait to binge it once it's over in early August.

I'm trying to get some things done before I binge Luke Cage season 2 in a week.

I think its better off as a binge watch than a weekly commitment. This is kinda similar to Runaways and the Netflix Marvel shows as the show is also incredibly slow in pacing. I'm watching the third episode and I feel slightly bored.

We don't have that ability. All we can do is open up requests for changes and such. Someone else physically makes the forums, and yes...they're slacking on it, I agree. But we cannot do anything passed what I am already doing.

Gotcha. I still don't know what power you people wield after all this time. :o

Why do we still have a Marvel's Most Wanted forum all these years later? :o j/k

These episodes are so slow that I can't imagine binging it and having to suffer through several hours at a time. I need to pace myself and only watch one every week at most. I still haven't even finished the Punisher or Jessica Jones Season 2.

If it's that slow and boring why would I want to prolong the experience?

At least Cloak and Dagger seem to be finally deciding to talk things through at the end of the episode and hopefully will team up.

Thought it would be a good idea to have a general discussion thread. For previous discussion prior to this forum being created, you can follow along Here.

Cloak and Dagger stars would love to see a Runaways crossover

As comic book fans know, Cloak and Dagger crossed over with the Runaways in the comics, and seeing as how Marvel’s Runaways premiered on Hulu in November 2017 and was renewed for a second season, the timing does seem to have worked out for both shows to be on the air at the same time. There’s nothing official happening yet, but Cloak and Dagger stars Aubrey Joseph and Olivia Holt are certainly open to the idea of a future meet-up with the kids of Brentwood, California. “If we were to cross over with any other Marvel show, it would definitely be them,” Joseph says of the Runaways. “We’re close in age and it would just probably make the most sense. I’m all for the Runaways.” Holt adds, “I would love to see the Cloak and Dagger clan and the Runaways clan team up.”

I think it would be fun - and free advertising for each other - but who knows if it would ever happen.

Hopefully it will pick up, but it remains to be seen. I used to tell people if you can get to the end of Wallace's story in The Wire that you will find yourself binge watching the rest. But in my case I need that greatness to binge.

It looks like the first season will be a 13 hour origin story. Iron Man was a two hour story while Gotham will be 101 hours when all is done. But Gotham had stuff beyond young Bruce. Meanwhile Cloak and Dagger has only the name drop of Roxxon so far. With a former New Yorker, thus maybe at home during The Battle Of New York, on the NOPD perhaps part of the larger MCU will play a part. But I doubt it.

The Runaway's possible crossover is intriguing just as having an Inhuman show up once the duo's super powers become public or police/Roxxon knowledge would be. Just so they are not the only enhanced one's out there. Or maybe a Deathlok cameo and they can go ahead and make the MCU Cybertek a Roxxon holding.

Speaking of Roxxon, I think the last time we saw them was Agent Carter where they were involved with Dark Energy. I would love to see some reference to show that Cloak and Dagger's powers have something to do with that.

Mods, thanks for merging the threads (even if it makes my recent post look really weird ;) ).

Finally we have a forum! It's about time.

I come on after being off for the weekend and I see my complaining finally paid off

Saw episode 3 last night. I like this show a lot so far.

The show is really solid so far, but man does it drag in places.

I love the production design. As someone born and raised in the south, it's cool that the setting is playing such a huge role in the show so far.

It is a slow burn show for sure. But I love the pace so far. It's allowed them to be showcased as their own characters with their own supporting casts that the audience is attached to. They've not been overtly dependent on building them as a duo to this point. It's a great idea. The characters have their own identities now.

That I agree with and I'd unquestionably prefer a slow burn compared to something that rushes through the major story beats. There's a lot of texture to each character.
