Cloak & Dagger Cloak and Dagger General Discussion

Wow. Surprisingly good trailer.

Looks better than Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Freeform? Really???

It looks like it has more budget... But quality of the show.. We'll see.

This is a show about teenagers...so, teenager type issues belong in it. The show should not shy away from it just because some grumpy old comic book fans can't deal with it.

I don't know the character very well and half the time I confuse them with DC's Hawk and Dove but aren't they teen superheroes? If they're not and Freeform made them teenagers in this adaptation then I agree with the complaints but if it's canon then the angst comes with the territory.

Honestly, it looks like a Freeform show (from what I've seen so far), and it looks tonally consistent to what I would expect from a C&D show. I don't mind that it looks kinda low budget, the old comics had that grounded feel too, despite the wild superpowers of the leads..

I'm also curious how they're gonna reference the larger MCU (probably not all that different from the Netflix shows). And it's probably unlikely they'll cross paths with Spidey or the Punisher anytime soon.

I only knew them from Maximum Carnage, but they struck me as young adults, maybe early 20s.

They were in their 20s in Maximum Carnage, but they were teens in their original origin story bsck in 1982.

I would say it looks surprisingly big budget, if anything. The production quality looks on par with the Netflix stuff.

My reaction was generally positive, but I don't know if I'll get to it.

I wonder why the trailer came out so early? Its out after the Punisher and the Inhumans and those two have yet to release a teaser trailer.

Is this going to be villain-of-the-week type crap? Trailer doesn't look like that.

they're the same age as the new warrior's founders and spider man and some of the X-men like fore example ice man. actually and more importantly they were members of the two team's I mentioned .

If anything I'd like to see them have a cross over with the New warriors. But I'm not sure that's possible since one them maybe made overly comedic . but it would have been cool.

Seems like they changed up their comic origin a bit. Tyrone and Tandy encounter each other as little kids in the show from the looks of the trailer.

Cloak and Dagger were teenage runaways that were held captive and experimented on with designer drugs that gave them superpowers in the comics.

Over time the characters have aged in the comics. In the eighties they were teenagers and compatriots of other teen heroes like the New Mutants who are the same generation as them. Cloak and Dagger/New Mutants are currently in their late twenties now in the comics.

I doubt the characters will suit up.

Cloaks costume is a simple cloak but Daggers outfit is a bit impractical and fleshing bearing for a teen show. All Dagger needs is to wear some all white clothing

I don't think so.

that why mention Xmen most of the new mutant have become ether X-men or avengers and befor that mostly duringthe 90's cloak and dagger join the new warrior befor the X-men let them into thei organization recently .

most of the new warrior's had mutant s fire star
most notably her former boy friend and fiance justice is mutant night thrasher the found of the team half younger brother formerly known as bandit was mutant (night thrasher is said to have special DNA but hasn't shown any sign(he's over the age to become one that usually activates unless it's been dormant some how or like what happened with magnet and Neal shara ) point is there were alot of mutants that joined that team .

oh most of them are in the marvel heroes omega game which is on ps4 beta too some are playable cloak and dagger show up in the games story and teleport to certain locations or are vendors for now.

They'll do what they did for the ultimate spiderman animated series where dagger's involved if they bother with the costumes . there no need For them to stress over that for now .

Exactly. This show's target audience is exactly where it needs to be even if I recognize that I'm too old to fit into it.

A couple things. One, different networks. Netflix tends to release trailers much closer to release. Inhumans is likely a VFX-heavy two-parter and those effects aren't likely done. Freeform tends to release First Look segments in theaters prior to movies, so I wouldn't be surprised if they show this in theaters with Guardians of the Galaxy.

Do we have a release date yet?

This show seems very grounded from the pilot trailer.

It will be interesting to see if they go into supernatural and science fiction territory of the MCU.

Most of the supernatural elements tended to be linked to Cloak's powers. Various villains trying to steal, control or manipulate them.

Huh. I turned from "don't give a crap" to "actually pretty interested" from the trailer.

The changes to how they meet interest me, and could give a cool dynamic to their relationship. Almost like fate brought them together.

I hope they stick with the drug aspects though. Has Freeform done anything with that subject matter before?

Visually, it looks great, especially for the budget it probably has. Dagger's dagger looked cool...I just hope they do something better with Cloak's cloak.

And that logo is awesome.
