Cloak & Dagger Cloak and Dagger General Discussion

When is this show airing?

The Runaways on Hulu started filming the same time as this and has already aired most of it's first seasons episodes.

Cloak and Dagger wrapped filming in November and besides the pilot trailer we have not heard anything about the show besides the fact it is supposed to come out some time in 2018.

I was just looking that up myself, and it looks like they still haven't announced a release date. Presumably sometime in the Spring, but nothing concrete.

I wanna watch this show already.

It does seem to keep getting pushed back. Have they filmed more than a pilot?

What's the holdup? I have no interest in a lot of the Marvel TV shows (Runaways, The Gifted, SHIELD and even Legion didn't do it for me) but the trailer for this looked pretty great, IMO.

Sneak peak and, finally, a release date: June 7 at 8pm! A bit later than we were promised, but I'm glad to see it:

It seems to be following the strategy to always have fresh content out there. Cloak and Dagger should drop just as Infinity War loses most of its screens.

Took long enough to get a premier date, LOL

Looks good. The actors seem pretty solid. Generally, Marvel seems to cast really well, whether it be their films or their TV projects.

I really hope this is good but I'm having a hard time trusting Freeform.

Why the heck haven't we seen Cloak wearing his actual, y'know, cloak yet?! Until I see him in that and the FX looking great, I won't count this show as worth my time. It'd be like if they did a Batman show and just had it be a guy wearing black clothes and a jacket. The look is a key part of the character

I hope you don't watch Gotham. Or Smallville...

Why? Did either of those shows promise viewers they'd see the classic heroes in full comic-accurate attire every week?

Has this show promised that?

Point is, my two examples are superhero shows without the actual superheroes.

In addition to that, neither are good.

Gotham and Smallville and any kind of alternative to showing the heroes are things you can do once the hero(s) have already featured properly in a film or show. They are like an offshoot and those can't really work without the thing to shoot off from.

Cloak's costume seems relatively easy to pull off. It seems like Dagger is the big questionmark. To me, whether they wear costumes will depend on whether they see themselves as superheroes.

I like the idea that the nature of their powers makes it possible to conceal their identities without masking up.

I just wanna know how they're gonna do it. How long till June?

If that music is from the score then it’s pretty great.

I really hope it doesn't start off as a straight up romance. I really hope they have a "will they won't they" love/hate relationship for the first season.

Also, wouldn't it be interesting if they do a role reversal? Instead of Cloak being a street kid, Dagger is the homeless street kid, and Cloak is just some privileged brat. Maybe like a "pretty woman" type situation.

They both ultimately fulfill there classic comic book roles, but it avoids the obvious cliche of black kid from the streets. The pretty blonde girl ends up being more street wise than him.

Doesn't bother me either way but I think a small change would be fun.

Haha I called it. Pure lucky guess, but it looks like they reversed lives and Dagger is the trailer park petty thief and Cloak is the privileged rich kid.

As for the show itself. Looks like pure YA. Not sure it's for me, but if it's a good show and it draws in the target audience, more power to them. Marvel gave me the glorious Punisher last year so I don't want to be too greedy and have everything catered to me. Give the teens something to enjoy.

TBH, the comics have a pretty YA vibe long before anybody was calling it that, so...

In the teaser, I got the sense that Tandy's family was fairly affluent but had recently fallen on hard times.

I mean, there was The Runaways just last year.
