I'm looking for a modern shooter. I'm not into online so I'm only really concerned about the quality of the single-player campaign of each game.

I heard that COD was an amazing experience but pretty short. I've not heard much about Bad Company beyond it being a very solid title.

Can any one help me out?

Both games are very good, but CoD4 is the obvious choice, its an utterly fantastic game. It offers break neck paced shooting that never leaves you alone, and the most popular online experience out there.

Battlefield is a good game also, but its more cartoony, open world. The guns have a feel good feel to them though. Its not as breath taking as CoD4 but is a different experience on the whole.

CoD4 is still probably the best shooter on the market. Id recommend it over any other FPS out there right now

I was addicted to the online play of Bad Company....until the servers became horrific so id choose COD anyday for online due to servers....as of game story its really up to if you want serious or corny(corny being bad company) cuz both are fun in their own way

Thanks for the input.

I've got World at War and have enjoyed it. Can I expect the same style and length of gameplay in COD 4?

COD4 is a must have, but I really wish that I picked up Bad Company. The demo was great, and I loved Battlefield 1942. Now that it's getting cheap, maybe I should give it a second look.

another heads up....when it comes to weapon firing and sounds....bad company destroys COD....either way your going to enjoy your choice....GameInformers gave both of them 9's or somethin I think

WaW is COD4 just set in WWII rather than modern times. I prefer CoD4 mainly for the setting

I say get neither and pick up Far Cry 2 instead. Far Cry 2's single player is a much more immersing experience than both Battlefield and Call of Duty 4.

I prefer Bad Company for the destructible environments and vehicles. The only thing I wish it had that COD has is the ability to throw grenades back. But yeah, Bad Company I say.

Thanks for the replies. I found a new copy of COD4 at Blockbuster for 30 bucks on clearance. It's still $60 at Gamestop while Bad Company has been dropped to $30. So I'll probably end up picking that up too eventually.
