Colin Farrell IS The Penguin

This is absurd. Of all the casting choices this one is ridiculous.

Haven't read the whole thread, so I'll just ask.....has anyone suggested using a large animatronic penguin as the Penguin? Because that would make me read the whole thread.

How about an 8ft mutated Penguin in leather pants that speaks Latin?

I agree. Ed Sheeran would've been a far better choice, sir.

Perhaps but I am not even arguing necessarily for that. I just think the penguin is quite a musical character and having someone who is multi talented and can do acting, singing, and dancing skillfully is someone who could’ve been seriously considered in the role; especially a young fresh popular talent who could help ignite a new fan base for the franchise

The film is full of unique and diverse casting choices already! I’m just making an argument to add to that and I was just using Sheeran as an example as he is short pudgy and multi talented; but it doesn’t have to be him. Any other musical talent with acting chops would have been so unique and interesting

I'm optimistic about this casting. Farrell is a capable actor and he has gone against his natural good looks before. Not sure how he's going to handle the pretentious wannabe snob side that Penguin seems to have. Even when playing losers Farrell comes across as kind of, I don't know, blokey I guess, for a lack of a better word.

Pretty sure you’ve had a fit about every single casting in this movie:funny:
I wouldn't say a fit. I haven't yelled, harassed those involved in the movie or I think made any claims other than my preferences. That's not a crime.
Is it because you’ve seen him in a top hat?
There's no need to ask.

We all know the answer.
Not really. I suppose I might've if he wore it in Sherlock, but at the moment I'm not sure. I looked for actors other than Farrell in the same age range and found him. I've seen the actor in things, he has a harsh energy in Sherlock, according to Google he's 2 inches shorter than Farrell and has a pointed face. I had to look for an image of him in a top hat.

Nah.....that was used in a SY FY channel monster marathon last month. We don't ant to repeat ourselves.

I quite like this casting. I have no idea what sort of Penguin Farrell will play exactly, but he's got the range to play basically whatever Matt Reeves asks of him perfectly.

To me, this is a more exciting choice than Seth Rogen or a number of the other comedic actors that we were spitballing as possible contenders after Jonah Hill passed on the part (and then the film altogether), because even if Reeves is still aiming for a more comedic take on Oswald Cobblepot, Farrell is still capable of merging that with a legitimately intimidating side too.

I'm ok with this choice because Farrell is a solid actor. Let's wait and see what he ends up looking like in full costume/wardrobe. How many times in the past has someone been cast in a role and people were against it but then they turned out to nail it in the end.

Heath Ledger as The Joker, for one.

You might be confusing this movie with the upcoming big-screen adaptation of Cats.

I honestly won’t like this version unless he’s fat and balding. Those things are really important to me. Some characters can afford a visual overhaul, this characters visual appearance is so important to the character though. Not a fan of the Telltale version.

You talking about Ed Sheridan in Where the wild things are sequel?

Has the Penguin always been bald in the comics? For some reason I thought some version of him had hair. Maybe I’m wrong though.

Those early comics were rough. It’s a miracle Penguin made it to icon status in Batman’s rogues gallery. If all he ever had were his early comic book appearances, fans would be looking back at him in a much different light.

At least the other villains had interesting shticks. Pengy’s was umbrellas. :funny:

I can see it. Long hair is the way to go. Preferably greasy.

Hell no. I just can't go for Colin as Penguin with long hair.

hahaha he looks like Uncle Fester with hair in that comic.

I wanna know who did it first, lol.
