Colin Farrell IS The Penguin

This is always going to be Penguin for me:

Somebody who launches themselves off of a stage knocking everyone over like a bowling ball then making an uncouth exit into the icy depths of the Gotham City Sewers.

After that, the comic book version just seems so normal... Still, if they could get someone to play the comic version accurately then ok but Colin Farrell is just a wrong casting overall even if going for something totally different I think.

I haven't made my mind if they should give him grotesque-ish (or fake nose, at least) appearance or not. On one hand, there's iconography and Penguin had the nose most of the time. On the other, maybe there's room for a different take. Dunno.

Jeez, this is fat to people?

Y'all are savage.

If it gets people to chill out over the thought of a thin Penguin for a few months until we know for sure what he’ll look like, I truly don’t mind.

Serkis is dope for anything but dam I don't want handsome penguin this news is underwhelming to say the least

Colin is a chameleon when he wants to be, and after seeing him in movies like The Lobster and The Killing of a Sacred Deer I'm confident he can play something villainous.

Pattinson is getting jacked by John Wick's trainer while Farrell has to get fat again lmao. Really, really dig this choice; Farrell's indie work's been so good, especially his two Yorgos films.

To be fair Andrew Scott would've been pretty dope.

You might think that, but Andrew Scott isn’t playing The Penguin and Colin Farrell is.
I'd prefer he not. This is another casting I'm not for. I don't care if he gave an Oscar worthy performance. He doesn't look enough like the character to me.

Lol so you’re going to hate on this even if he gives a great performance. Ok...
And if Jesse Eisenberg was cast as Batman and gave an oscar worthy performance, I don't think it means I have to be pro his casting. Same here.

You sound like the type of guy to prefer Leto Joker to Ledger.

Not who I first think of, but Farrel has always been a decent actor.

Has or will the character undergone re-writes then? As Jonah Hill is is 180 degrees from Colin Farrell, no way were they considered for the same version of the Penguin

I don't think Penguin will be rewritten because they found another actor. Farrell may play Penguin differently than Hill, but the essence and motivation remain the same.

My first thought was this is Matt Reeve's reaction to Jonah Hill turning down the role. He maybe didn't want his looks to be cartoonishly exaggerated and be identified as looking like Penguin afterwards.

This is perhaps Matt Reeve's ridiculous 180 degree turn as a result.
