College is way overrated

Hey, "obiwan" maybe you should I dunno go to college first before you start spouting how overrated it is.

ONLY 75 minutes long!?! Like I said, extremely wealthy or extremely tame. I can't sit still for 75 minutes on my own terms, forget about 75 minutes on someone elses terms.
Do you take ritalin?

And none of us have the balls to grab it.:whatever:

:hehe:

It is easily worth the money and time...are you serious:huh: Do you not see the constant polls and figures on how much college grads earn more than high school grads? More people with less opportunities can still apply for grants, loans, scholarships, etc... and it is well worth it in the long run...easily.

The classes might be worth the scratch but on-campus living is extremely overpriced. Those polls mean crap, I've met plenty of college grads who are unemployed or wotking for close to minimum wage.

I have a problem with anyone putting $$$ before what they want to do. Real issues I have with doctors and lawyers who are only in it for the money.

So what's your status, what do you do Lazlo?

You have dug your own hole for 5.65 an hour.:o

What about people who want to go to college and learn? Are they "just in it for the money?"

No no, it's called freedom son. :o

Yeppur. That's what ya' get when you fulfill your own fantasies your own way by any means necessary. That takes guts junior.

I've never been shootin' for being a productive part of society, I'm aiming to be a major cog and to do that... I gotta get my kicks in beforehand. THAT TAKES INTELLIGENCE!

It's my goal to seize the entire ****ing thing. In fact, I might be closer than stereotypical views and beliefs may say someone of my 'nature' could be. But, when challenging for the most critical role in the operation of this planet I suspect I may appear to be a 'loser.'

Nonetheless, I have to get my freedom before I get the title.

So you want the whole ****ing thing. You want to have fun before you do it. Ok, got ya. But how are you going to get to be the big cog in the wheel without education? Do you know how many CEOs have degrees from Ivy League schools? Most of em. Sure some may not, but they are the exception, not the rule. Work as hard as you like for as long as you want, you will still just be a little cog without an education.

What about people who want to go to college and learn? Are they "just in it for the money?"

What can you learn indoors in a class room amongst a large group where each morsel of second-hand knowledge is shared 30x over that you can't learn through personal experience outdoors?

Go outside and bite a tree, go kick a dog, stroll through an open field. You'll get more knowledge in that 10 minutes than you do in 100's of hours in a classroom.

So how old are you, and what do you do for a living?

So basically you have no respect for someone that likes to learn? Aside from kicking a dog. And just out of curiosity, where are you from?

I wanted to learn about the foundations and laws of public policy. I could not have done it without the help from my professor. And I couldn't master the material without being tested in it. I know so much more now than I did three years ago, and I certainly could not have received that knowledge by "going outside" or simply cracking open a book. The only class where I didn't learn anything was college physics, but I had to take it for my degree, so I dealt with it.

I bite tree's, kick dogs, and roam through open fields. What else is there?:whatever:

OMG it's teh jokerz!

See what this movie has done, people? It's brought a plague upon this website.

(I do submit that this person may not have seen The Dark Knight and/ or liked it, obviously, because if he can't sit through 75 minutes of lecture, he certainly can't sit through 142 minutes of film).

You think all college lessons are in the classroom? I learned a lot in college, most of it outside the classroom, I think anyone who went away to school would probably say the same. Also besides the learning you also meet people that can help after school, I can attribute my current job almost directly to one of my friends I made in college. College isn't just about sitting in a classroom listening to a teacher lecture, there's a lot more and it's an experience I'd never change for anything in the world.

So you did something you didn't want to do by taking the physics course
and surrendered alot of your freedom all for a piece of paper that says
'YAY! YOU DID IT!!' ? You'd have learned alot in three years no matter where you were.

Should have followed your animalistic desires and needs. Good 'ole carnal knowledge never fails.:woot:

Please don't try and lecture me. I realize you paid good money to have someone tell you what's what but I didn't pay none of my money to hear so I don't want to hear it. Besides, you paid for it - you may as well hold onto it.

Dude, I went away to college and it was nothing but a big-ass waste of money. All it did to help at this point is help eliminate any curiosity as to what college is all about.

Secondly, If you're a college grad and still calling people for help then that's proof that the college system isn't much better than Skippy and Boomer tradin' auto parts for gardening supplies over the phone.

The truth is, I've walked alot of walks and heard alot of talks and as of right now - I see the college grads as the most disrespectful punks out there.

Well, I didn't want to spend my entire life living on father's couch, *********ing to pictures of Heath Ledger ten minutes before I'd have to pump gas into someone's Mercedes. So, I took the physics course and dealt with it. I had a choice in which science course I wanted to take, I took physics, passed the course, and I don't feel like I lost anything in the process.

I am far from a disrespectful punk. I am glad I went to college. It was an important step in my life but I can see we each have our own paths to take in life and hopefully the paths we choose make us better people.
